Obituary: SHAW, WANDA SMITH Born Aug. 20, 1931 in Ogemaw, Arkansas, has died in Richardson, TX on May 28, 2014. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles (Buddy) Shaw. Survived by her daughters, Meg Burgett and husband, Lowell of Wasilla, AK; Karen Holub and husband Bill, of Plano, TX; Jo Smith and fiancée, Sam Sullivan of Montgomery, TX; grandchildren, Walker Burgett, Amanda Holub, Jill Holub and Marshall Smith. Wanda was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and friend. Buddy and Wanda were active members of St. Jude Catholic parish in Allen, TX. The mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Jude on Thurs., 3 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the parish hall and burial at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas at 2:00 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at Restland Memorial Chapel on Wed. evening, 2 at 5:30 p.m. followed by family visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family requests that anyone wishing to honor Wanda do so by donating blood at their local blood bank. Obituary: Vernon N. Shaw passed away on 25, 2014. He was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on 27, 1918, to Frank Ervin Shaw and Eva McRee Shaw. Vernon attended schools in Hot Springs and worked in a number of grocery stores during his teenage years. In early 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1941 through 1945, primarily in the Southwest Pacific Theater. getting out of the Army, he opened his own grocery store, Tip-Top Grocery, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was during this time that he met and married Rosaland Shute. were married on 4, 1948, at Park Place Baptist Church in Hot Springs and subsequently started their home in Hot Springs. In the mid 1950's, Vernon and Rosaland moved to DeKalb, Texas, to open a grocery store, that became Shaw's Piggly Wiggly. He started his new grocery business in a small, store-front and in 1959, he built a new building that was to remain open until the early 1980's, when he retired from the grocery business. Vernon thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the grocery business. He treated his customers fairly and honestly. Beginning in the early 1960's, Vernon employed people of all races and treated those who worked with and for him, equally and with respect. retiring, he and Rosaland moved to Texarkana, Texas, where he lived until his death. his retirement, he occasionally worked in Shute's Piggly Wiggly store in New Boston and often delivered food to the Salvation Army and Harvest Texarkana. Vernon served as a deacon and taught School in the First Baptist Church of DeKalb. When he and Rosaland moved to Texarkana, they joined First Baptist Church, where they were active members. Vernon was a generous, kind, and considerate person. He quietly helped a great many people throughout the years. He loved and was devoted to his family. He also loved the grocery business and felt it was his true calling. In recent years, the City of DeKalb honored Vernon with the Noble Award, for significant contributions to the community. Vernon was in every sense of the word, a good person. He is survived by his wife, Rosaland Shaw of Texarkana, Texas; son, Nelson V. Shaw and his wife, Cheryl of Texarkana, Arkansas; grandchildren Amy Dougherty and her husband Todd, of Maumelle, Arkansas, John Shaw and his wife, Casey, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Nathan Shaw and his wife, Tara, of Rogers, Arkansas, Kate Collins of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Cody Collins and Lila Langston of Hope, Arkansas; great grandchildren Rowan Dougherty and Penn Dougherty, and Cypress Collins, Edyn Collins and Ethan Langston; and, a number of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Card of , California, and his brother-in-law, Hiram Shute of New Boston, Texas. Obituary: Trina Elaine Anderson Shaw, a resident of Deer Park, Texas for 39 years went to be with the Lord on , 26, 2011 at the age of 76 years. Trina was born on 20, 1934, in Conroe, Texas to Evelyn Grogan Anderson & George Lewis Anderson. Trina graduated from Conroe High School in 1952, attended The University Of Houston earning a Bachelor of Science in Education, and later UH Clear Lake earning a Master of Science in Reading Education. Trina began her teaching career at the age of 20 on an emergency certification in Van Vleck, Texas. While teaching in Van Vleck, Trina met her beloved husband and friend of 54 years, Robert Bob Shaw. Trina and Bob were married on 16th 1956 in Conroe, Texas. With Bob as her personal chauffeur, they logged thousands of miles visiting craft shows, and antiquing; as Bob liked to call it Driving Miss Trina. Bobs driving duties continued as they attended baseball, basketball, and football games and the many recitals and performances of their five grandchildren. Trina taught for over 40 years in Pasadena ISD and La Port ISD, retiring in 1996. She spent the majority of those years teaching first grade where she used her God given talent of seeing life hrough a childs eyes creating a nurturing classroom environment and being the foundation upon which her students, numbering in the thousands, would build their education. Trina always said that no matter how gray she got, she never ceased to see the world as children do, and blessed her grandchildren with this gift as well. Trina was an avid collector of Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls. Those who knew her well, appreciated her many talents which ranged from painted folk art to her handmade Cabbage Patch dolls. She was also a regular visitor to her local Hobby Lobby. Trina is Survived by her husband, Robert Edwin Shaw of Deer Park, Texas; her children, Robert Lewis Shaw and wife Tamara of Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Robin Elaine McDaniel and husband Mac of Deer Park, Texas; and her Grandchildren, Katrina, Kendall, Keaton, Kirk, and Kyle; Brother, Lewis Anderson and wife Carolyn; and her faithful companion, Prissy (her Shi Tzu).
