Obituary: Geneva O. Sexton, 77, a long time resident of Carrollton, passed from this life , 17th in Irving, Texas following an extended illness. The daughter of Wesley and Sally Ethel Rains Roberts, she was born in Stringtown, Oklahoma 17, 1933. Geneva grew up in Stringtown where she graduated from highschool and then attended college in Kilgore, Texas. She married Thomas Smith Sexton , Jr. in Durant, Oklahoma , 8, 1960 and he preceded her in death 3, 1976. Geneva retired in 1995 as secretary of the Carrollton First Baptist Church where she had worked since the mid 1970s. She loved the Lord and her service to the childrens department working with 2 year olds. Following her retirement, she continued to work in the church as a volunteer in many areas. Her favorite times were meeting with her sisters and family that shared her love of quilting in their monthly "sister quilt" meetings. Additionally, she enjoyed playing games with her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her daughters, Lesa Smith and her husband Brent of Carrollton, and Lynda Geane Ryden and her husband Jason of Irving, Texas; three grandchildren Tara Pardue and her husband Zeb of Dallas, Dayton Ryden, a student at Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls and Curren Ryden, a student at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas; four sisters, Helen Galyean of Madill, Oklahoma, Fannie Westbrook of McAlester, Oklahoma, Patricia Roberts of Roseburg, Oregon and Geane Kellogg and her husband Billy Guy of Daisy, Oklahoma, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Visitation will be evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at Rhoton with Services at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton. The Rev. Dr. Brent Taylor will officiate and burial will follow at Hilltop Memorial Park in Carrollton. Pallbearers will be Dayton Ryden, Curren Ryden, Zeb Pardue, Nick Galyean, Clint Hutson and Joe Kellogg. |

Obituary: ARLINGTON -- Dorothy M. Sexton of Arlington, Texas, former resident of Neodesha, Kansas and Alvin, Texas went to be with the Lord 13, 2011 at the age of 91. Visitation will be , 17, 6-8pm at Moore , 1219 N. Davis, Arlington. The funeral and burial will be held in Neodesha, Kansas. Dorothy was born in Altoona, Kansas to Vinton and Lola (Thompson) Reynolds, 9, 1920. She married Wayne S. Sexton 19, 1940, in Independence, Kansas. lived in Neodesha until 1970. With the closing of the refinery in Neodesha, they moved to Alvin, Texas. Wayne worked for the Chemical Division of Amoco at Chocolate Bayou and Dorothy worked as food service director for the Alvin hospital. moved to Arlington in 1988 to be near their daughter, Judy Neill and her family. When most people start retirement, Dorothy, at age 68, took on her favorite job ever. She started working for Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington as a mangerial in food service. She worked for Six Flags for over 20 years and was honored by Six Flags for her work and for being the most senior active employee. She was forced into retirement from Six Flags by a broken leg at age 89. Dorothy grew up during the depression, determined to never go hungry again. She started working in her early teens and worked until she was 89 years old. She was always fearful of the next depression and was always preparing for it. No job was too little or she too good to do the work. She took great pride in her work ethic. She worked at the Ordinance Plant in Parsons, Kansas, during World War II and during the Viet Nam War. She also worked at Electra in Independence for many years, and many other jobs in-between. When they moved to Texas she enrolled in college and got her food service training and certification. She loved the challenges of food service. She loved to cook for family and friends. She was always looking for new recipes. Her favorite TV shows were the cooking shows and the Gaithers. Dorothy kept in constant contact with all of the family members. She always had "bits of wisdom" for each of them. However, she was always there if they needed something. She was always helping someone in need. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Wayne S. Sexton, her parents Vinton and Lola Reynolds, brothers, Joe, Charlie, and William, and several special nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Judith (Judy) Sexton Neill and her husband, Dr. Robert Neill of Kennedale, Texas, her grandson, David Neill, (she was his "Nanat" and he was the "light of her life"), and his wife Libby of Grapevine, Texas, her sister Virginia Prosser of Neodesha, several special nieces and nephews, her many dear friends, and not to forget her beloved cat, Jimmy, that she rescued from Six Flags. |
