Milbern was married to Janice Schlicht on 8, 1955 and theirs was the first wedding reception held at Watterson Hall. Milbern served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor of road construction for Texas Dept. of Transportation and then for the of Bastrop. He also enjoyed his ranching. Obituary: Mary Alice Seidel died peacefully in her sleep 21, 2014 from cancer complications. Mary was born the first month of 1943 in Chicago to Jane and Robert Matthei. She was the middle child of five. Mary spent most of her childhood in North Tonawanda, New York, graduating from Niagara-Wheatfield High School in 1961. She attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a certification in Medical Technology. It was at Valparaiso that she met her husband, Charles (Chuck) Seidel. were married in 1966 while he was a doctoral student at the University of Michigan. Mary worked as a medical technologist and research technician while her husband finished his degree and training. From 1970 through 1976, they lived in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Charlottesville, Virginia finally settling in Houston the spring of 1976. During this time Mary gave birth to their daughter, Stephanie in 1972. Because of the birth of Stephanie, Mary started her second career as a preschool teacher graduating from the Houston Montessori School in 1979. It was her work as a preschool teacher that gave Mary the most satisfaction and for which she is most remembered. She worked at several private schools, retiring in 2004 from Presbyterian School where she was a founding teacher. Mary and Chuck were very active at First Presbyterian Church, Houston, where Mary volunteered in the preschool school class and sang alto in the church choir. her retirement she moved to Portsmouth, Commonwealth of Dominica, where her husband took an administrative position at Ross University School of Medicine. During the four years they lived in Dominica, Mary volunteered in a local elementary school and was active in community events. In 2008, she and her husband moved to Freeport, Grand Bahama where Chuck assisted in establishing a branch campus for the medical school. Mary became very active in the Grand Bahama Womens Association serving one year as recording secretary. In addition, she participated in the annual testing of the vision and hearing acuity of all elementary students on Grand Bahama. For enjoyment she sang alto in the Grand Bahama Regency Singers. Stephanie and her family moved to Grand Bahama in 2009 when Stephanies husband became the medical schools councilor. Stephanie and Jonathon brought with them their twin three-year-old twin girls, Edith and Natalie. During the three years her granddaughters were in Grand Bahama, Mary was a co-leader of their Girl Scout troup where she was known as Tawny Owl. Stephanie and Mary were very active in the childrens ministry of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Grand Bahama. periodically taught childrens school and assisted in summer vacation bible school. In 2013, Mary and Chuck moved back to their home in Houston, which they worked together to rejuvenate after an absence of almost 10-years. In addition to her husband, daughter and two granddaughters, Mary is survived by her son-in-law, Jonathon Holmsten, sister Betty Schuck, and brother Phil Matthei. Obituary: Madeline Schraer Seidel, 85, passed away on , 18, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Madeline Mathilda Schraer on 16, 1929, in Runnels , Texas, to Henry and Mary Mueller Schraer. She grew up in Rowena, Texas. She attended Sweet Elementary and graduated from Miles High School in 1946. She married Alton Seidel on Nov. 10, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas. She and Alton lived in Ballinger, Texas before moving to San Angelo, Texas in 1960. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was co-owner and operator of the family business, Seidel, Inc. for over 50 years. She was a faithful member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, International Toastmistress Club, and also in the Diocese of San Angelo Prison Ministry with her lifelong friend, Sister Roberta Thompson. Madeline's primary interests in life were serving the Lord, taking care of her large family, and running the family business. Through her years she enjoyed boating, bowling, hunting, fishing and cooking for her family and friends. She loved serving her family, friends and community. She remained active in her family, church and business until her recent illness. She had a unique wit, sense of humor, and was very grateful to those caring for her. She remained unwavering in her faith in the Lord even during the most difficult times. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alton Seidel; her parents; brothers Frank, Arnold and Ervin Schraer; and sister Elizabeth Gerngross. She is survived by her family, son Daniel Seidel and wife Sandra; daughter Darlene and husband Bruce Willig, daughter Sharon Seidel, son Howard Seidel, son Kenneth Seidel and wife Sandy and brother Henry Schraer, all of San Angelo. She will always be cherished by her grandchildren, Justina Saunders of Ozona, Clayton Sauer of Eldorado, Bryan Seidel of Rowlett and Robyn Seidel of San Angelo, Brooks Willig and Laura Willig both of San Angelo, Brad Hamman and wife Patti and Heidi Haman, all of San Angelo. She was affectionately known as GiGi to her great-grandchildren, Kristin Haman, Wesley Haman and Hailey Dodson, all of San Angelo. She has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, who will all greatly miss her. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Shannon Hospital for their amazing compassonate care during her illness.
