Obituary: Services for Betty G. Segrest, 79, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. , 9, 2015 at Eastview United Pentecostal Church, with Reverend David Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial . Mrs. Segrest was born 2, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of the late Alma Glades (Wolfe) and Arthur William Herbertson. She passed away , 5, 2015 in a local hospital. Mrs. Segrest was born and attended school in Jacksonville, Florida. She married Cloy Hubert Segrest on 1, 1957. Mr. Segrest was in the United States Navy, so they traveled with the Navy. moved to Lufkin in 1971. Mrs. Segrest worked at Lufkin State School and Progressive Living . She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her church and friends. She enjoyed flowers, watching hummingbirds, and gospel music. She had tons of recipes and loved cooking. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Risley of Colleyville; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Kevin and Robyn Segrest of Lufkin and Mike and Iva Segrest of Huntington; daughter, Susan Hopper of Garland; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Matt, Jared, Brian, Jacob, Shalisha, Steven, Dustin, Felicia, Allen, and Brandon; 4 great-grandchildren, and a number of other family members. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Segrest was preceded in death by her husband, Cloy Hubert Segrest; son, Steven Wayne Segrest; and brother, David Herbertson. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Segrests memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814. Obituary: Joseph Louis Segrato, age 71, of Spring Branch, Texas, passed away on 28, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was born in Houston, Texas on 7, 1940 to parents Louis and Mary (Pontello) Segrato, who preceded him in death. A graduate of St. Thomas High Schools class of 1958, Joe attended The University of Texas at Austin where he completed his preparatory and legal education in 1962 and 1965, respectively. He pledged and became a brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and, additionally, was a loyal and passionate supporter of his beloved Texas Longhorns throughout his life. As a member of the State Bar of Texas, he practiced law for 47 years as a trial attorney. Recognized as one of the foremost defense lawyers in Texas, he was a partner with Thornton, Biechlin, Segrato, Reynolds & Guerra, L.C. since 1982. Joe practiced law and tried cases all across South Texas, including the many years he spent residing in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley. Clients sincerely appreciated his enthusiasm, knowledge of the law and proven record of success. Joe held a passion for athletics and grew up playing baseball and football. As a young man he took up golf, as well as hunting, fishing and boating. He loved his home in Port Aransas and his farm in Bulverde where he enjoyed sitting outside on his porch in the evenings with a good cigar. He was also passionate about breeding, raising and racing horses. He was a born leader with exceptional charisma and had a wonderful hearty laugh that could be heard across any noisy room. Joe possessed a huge capacity to love and nurture his family as well as those for which he cared. A great communicator, outstanding in social situations, a mans man, brave and possessed of great inner strength. He valued honesty and integrity and lived a life that exemplified these characteristics. Joe aimed for perfection with every pursuit, expecting the same of others. As a result, he was a fierce competitor who, more often than not, came out on top. He fully supported his family and true friends and, whenever trouble presented itself, one could always count on Joe. He will be missed dearly by the many lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Annette Elliott Segrato; children, Nancy Segrato Barnes; Glen Segrato and wife, Tracy; and stepson, Rob L. Springs, II and wife, Amy; sister, Virginia Segrato Wood; grandsons, Alex and Luke Barnes and Gus and Leo Segrato, and granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Springs; nieces, Mary Louise Wood Binning and husband, Brad, and Renee Wood Lange and husband, Mark; nephew, William A. (Trey) Wood, III and wife, Ann Marie; and former wife, Kay Cole Segrato. Desde niño demostro ser muy inquieto; coria, hablaba, molestaba a us hermanos, pero siempre demostrando la gran nobleza de su Corazon preocupandose si estaban bien, si habian comido, si nesesitaban algo etc. C-los, como carinosamente era llamado por sus seres queridos; curso sus estudios de High School en el colegio de New beginnings Christian Preparatory Academy. Taurus beauty salon fue el lugar en donde Carlos ocupo mas de su tiempo trabajando y en el cual disfrutaba el placer de cortar el cabello. Uno de los pasatiempos favoritos de Carlos era dibujar, y en esto tambien demostraba tener un gran talento. Taco Bell, Lomax y Hooters eran sus restaurants favoritos. A Carlos le encantaba ver peliculas. “Scarface” y “ ” eran unas de sus favoritas. Apecar de su character timido, C-los era de un Corazon, alma y espiritu bondadoso. Su amor, Carino, Compasion y entrega a los demas no tenia limite. Yanci y Mario recuerdan siempre con carino cuando una vez Carlos despues de tiempo de estar juntando dinero para comprarse unos lentes que el queria; ya que los tenia se los regalo a ellos. Asi de facil era para Carlos desprenderse de las cosas materiales y poder ver feliz a todo el que lo rodeaba. Elena tambien recuerda y nunca olvidara que en una ocacion Carlos compro un vestuario de cowboy para Luisito, lo arreglo y se lo llevo a Hooters. Elena estaba un poco preocupada pues el aquel tiempo Luisito contaba con tan solo 6 meses de edad, pero esa fue una mas de las carinosas trabesuras que Carlos dejo como una hueya en la vida de Elena y todos los que lo amaban. Gracias a Dios este pasado sabado el dia 15 de noviembre, Carlos cumplio uno de sus mas grandes deseos. Celebraron el cumpleanos numero 8 de su sobrino Luisito y ningun miembro de la familia falto. Tener a toda la familia junta disfrutando en armonia era algo que Carlos anelaba que susediera pues el siempre buscaba la manera de unirlos a todos. El padre de Carlos recuerda la vez que el trajo unas papas y las cocino en el orno, un buen pretext para mantenerse unido a la gente que el amaba. Carlos deja un gran legado a su familia. El siempre sera recordado como el gran amigo, hijo, hermano, companero, timido, atento, bondadoso, misericordioso, hijo de Dios. Carlos nunca fue casado y no tuvo hijoa. Obituary: Yvonne Segovia born Nov. 6, 1934 in Houston, TX. She passed away on 15, 2016 in Houston, TX surrounded by her family. She was the fourth child of ine Segovia and Pauline S. Segovia, having two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a daughter Susan C. Reyna; sisters Mary Lou Cortinas and Kate Garza; Brother Joe Segovia. Two nieces, seven nephews and cousins. Her family fondly remembers her as being hard working as a LVN and other occupations until her retirement. She was fun loving, strong willed and quick witted person who enjoyed cooking outdoors. Hobbies include gardening, jewelry making, arts & crafts and loved to dance. Also she was a very spiritual, proud person with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by everyone, especially by her devoted daughter. We will remember her for her strength and courage. Visitation will be held on at 5 PM and Rosary Prayer at 7PM.
