Mrs. Saxton was born 14, 1936 in Angelina , Texas, the daughter of the late Lilla Mae (Parker) and Emory Hamilton Allen. She passed away , 20, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Saxton was a good wife, mother and grandmother. All of the grandchildren loved her. She cooked but maybe didn like to cook. However, she did take care of and feed her family well. Her favorite food was a Whopper Junior from Burger King. Survivors include her sons, Benjamin Woltz and wife Susan of Allentown and Carl Woltz of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Lenda Woltz of Huntington; grandchildren, Timothy Woltz, Kimberly and Fred Smith, and Daniel and Sara Woltz; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Preston Allen and wife Annette of Lufkin and Joe Mack Allen and wife Jan of Allentown; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Saxton was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Woltz; son, Jackie Woltz; several brothers; and a sister. Obituary: James Everett Saxton, Jr., 74, a Palestine hometown hero, and Texas Longhorns legendary All-American, died , May 28th after a long battle with dementia. He was born on May 21st, 1940, to James E. Saxton Sr. and Rachel Sutton Saxton. Growing up, you could find him making memories with his sister and cousins, as well as playing football, basketball, or running any race he could. graduating Palestine High School in 1958, he went onto become a legendary halfback and was the first Longhorns running back to be named All-American. He still holds the record for best per carry average in a season, and finished 3rd for the Heisman in 1961. Their hometown of Palestine would be where Saxton met and fell in love with Carol Ann Logan. He went on to Texas, and she to SMU, and following college graduation they would marry on 1st, 1962. At that same time, he would sign with the Dallas Texans, and later decided to enter the banking business. He was an exceptional businessman and went on to become the chairman of the board of Texas Commerce Bank in Austin, and worked in the banking business for 27 years. During this time, he became one of Austins civic leaders, was head of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, served for a time as chairman of the State Board of Insurance, and he along with his wife, were founding members of an Austin church. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and coach, spending much of his time outdoors doing the things he loved. Saxton is survived by his beloved and devoted partner of 52 years, Carol Ann, his daughter Shelley Earnest and son-in-law Paul, his daughter Cathy Alexander and son-law Charlie, and his son, James Saxton, III (Jimmy), and daughter-in-law Suzy; grandsons John and Samuel Saxton, and Brandon Earnest; granddaughters Kylie and Taylor Alexander, and Logan Earnest. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Davis, and numerous cousins, nieces and his nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rachel Sutton Saxton, father James E. Saxton Sr., and brother-in-law Charlie Davis. A memorial gathering will be held on , 10th from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. at the Touchdown Club located on the 8th floor of DKR Texas Memorial Stadium. Obituary: Graveside service for Billy Carroll Saxton, Sr., 76, of Onalaska were held at 4:00 p.m. , 10, 2015 in the Ryan Chapel with Reverend Ricky Pressley officiating. Mr. Saxton was born 2, 1939 in Lufkin to the late Patricia Orene (Rudd) and Butler Wesley Saxton and died 7, 2015 in Livingston where he succumbed to kidney failure. Billy graduated from Diboll High School in 1957. He was a retired welder who enjoyed working, and only retired a few years prior to his passing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, where he earned the nickname Backroads Billy and spent most of his retirement fishing on Lake Livingston, and hunting in West Texas. Billy was also an All-District basketball player for Diboll High and was proud to be a Life-Time Golden-Eagle NRA member. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grand, and great grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Wes Saxton of Onalaska; his life partner Vera Rushing of Onalaska; sisters, Gayle Saxton Holland of Lufkin and Kathy Saxton Bunkley of Abilene; aunt, Rose Havard of Lufkin; grandchildren, Danielle Simpson, Alex Saxton, and Tyler Saxton; great grandchildren, Brayden Topkins, Alexis Gregg, and Holley Saxton; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Carroll Saxton, Jr. Pallbearers were Alex Saxton, Tyler Saxton, Charles Redd, Terry Glover, Charles Poindexter, and Tommy Little. Obituary: Violet G. Saxon, born 18, 1924 in Gadsden, Alabama, entered eternal rest 3, 2011. The oldest of four children born to Sylvie and Hazel Graham, she grew up in Skirum, Alabama and moved to Birmingham after high school to work for an aviation company supporting World War II. There she met her husband B.B. Saxon. Violet and B.B. lived and worked throughout the Southeast, namely Fort Walton Beach, Florida during the 1950s and finally San Antonio, Texas in 1962. Not only was she a beautiful homemaker, Violet also was involved in charity work, from taking disadvantaged children to the mall to choose new shoes for Christmas, to stitching together scrap fabric teddy bears for foster children. During the 1990s, Violet ran Café Maison coffee and gift shop in The Elms shopping center, serving one of her favorite drinks to many San Antonians. Violet is survived by her children Billy Saxon and wife Andrea, Nita Taylor and husband Wyn, Robert Saxon and wife Rita, and grandchildren Aaron Saxon and Carol Whitis, Kathryn Mulliner, Crista Reed and husband Adam, Lane Taylor, and great grandchildren Lauren, Melissa, Nicole and Luke, all of whom affectionately call her Ganny; brother, Jerry Graham; and sister, Jackie Lewis. The ultimate Southern lady, Violet was known for her superb cooking, wonderful fashion and decorating sense, warm, welcoming heart, and deep Christian faith. Obituary: Stephen Barnett Saxon was born 25, 1988 in Amarillo to Jerry and Diana Saxon. He grew up and lived his rich and full life entirely in Amarillo. Stephen attended Carver Academy, Sam Houston Middle School and graduated from Tascosa High School May 2007. He was active in Naval Junior ROTC for four years serving in various leadership roles including Platoon Commander and Operations Officer. Stephen was nationally ranked for his marksmanship skills. He was a member of the AWANAS club at Amarillo Bible Church. He came to rely heavily on leadership training he received from Teen Leadership Amarillo and Canyon. Stephen was active in many levels of Boy Scouts including Tigers, Cubs, WEBELOS, and Boy Scouts. He received the Arrow of Light, Order of the Arrow Vigil, and Eagle Scout awards and attended the National Jamboree in 2005. Stephen entered U.S. Marine Corps Training in 2007 and was honorably discharged in 2014. He participated in deployments to Iraq and the Gulf of Aden. Stephen took on an active role in the recovery of the Magellan from Somali pirates, the nations first military action involving piracy. He enjoyed his motorcycles, shooting sports, pickup poker games, camping and hanging with his buds. Most of all, Stephen adored his young daughter, Hannah-Belle. Stephen was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Emmette Barnett Saxon and Walter Stephen Bull. Stephen is survived by a daughter, Hannah-Belle, and her mother, Nicole Brown of Amarillo; his parents, Jerry and Diana Saxon; two sisters, Mabelle Browning and husband Roger of Amarillo and Andrea Saxon of Amarillo; two brothers, Collin Saxon and wife Lindsay of Pampa and Philip Saxon and wife Shelby of San Diego, CA; two nephews, Cash Browning and Asher Saxon, a niece, Brookelynn White; grandmothers, Dolores Bull and Gwen Saxon and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, buddies and soul-mates.
