Obituary: On 1, 2017 Junior Jefferson Sawyer, age 75, went to be with our Lord. Junior was born on 24, 1941 in Muldoon, TX. He resided in Waelder, Texas. He leaves behind his son, Edward Sawyer and wife Clarrisa of Flatonia and David Sawyer and wife Crystal of Brownsboro, TX, five grandchildren Mackenzie Cox, William Ackermann, Elizabeth Ackermann, Noah Sawyer, Jase "Jeffrey" Sawyer and his "little buddy" LeeAndra Roper. He also leaves his siblings LilyMae Plummer of Flatonia and Tom Sawyer of Texas, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends. Junior is preceded in death by his parents George "Tump" and Gladys Henderson of Waelder, TX and Milborn "Boots" Sawyer of Muldoon, TX, son, Larry Sawyer, and two sisters Mildred and Tot. Junior worked as a rancher and loved being outdoors. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a smile, a nod, or a friendly wave. It is said that there wasn't a horse he couldn't ride. Junior enjoyed his daily coffee and ice cream at McDonald's. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. In leiu of donations, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Ronald McDonald House. Obituary: Jenny did it! She outlived everyones expectations. Jenny was born three months premature weighing only 1 lb. 15 oz. to Beverly and Freeman Sawyer. Shortly after her birth, they were told she would probably not survive the day. She did, and 4 ½ months later when she went home on Christmas Eve, they were once again told she would probably not survive. At 6 years of age, Jenny went to live at the San Antonio State School where she resided in Yellow Rose Dorm #673 for 29 years! That says an awful lot about the remarkable love and care Jenny received there for all those years. Jenny was definitely a miracle with a strong will to survive. There was obviously a greater purpose for Jennys life. What is known is that Jenny touched many peoples lives, and in return, many have made an impact on Jenny and her family. Through Jenny, many people were made aware of those special individuals like Jenny and their special needs. Because of Jenny, her parents joined the fight and enlisted the help of others to save the state schools in Texas. And, the fight goes on! There will always be special people like Jenny, an angel in training. Jenny is survived by her parents Beverly and Freeman Sawyer; her brother and his family - Freeman, Susan, Jordan, and Dylan; her grandfather Otis Brinlee; aunts and uncle include Janie Marty, Jan Pickholtz, Cyndi Lynn and Toby Brinlee. Jennys extended family includes many others. Jennys San Antonio State School Family is made up of all the staff on Yellow Rose Dorm who have been there on a 24 hour basis to love and care for Jenny for the last 29 years. There were so many direct care staff members who adopted Jenny as their own over the years. There are so many others who have been there for Jenny and her family throughout Jennys life. Family, close friends, Jennys doctors, and the nurses who cared for Jenny in her home have a special place in the heart of her parents. Obituary: Iris Meyer Sawyer, age 106, went to be with the Lord on 8, 2014. She was born on 1, 1908 in Concan, TX (Uvalde ) to J. Edward & Mary Wheeler Meyer. raising her children, she returned to college (which she had started in 1926) inspired by a needy grandson to become a Speech Therapist. Several times before her retirement, she was chosen Teacher of the Year at Leon Valley Elementary (Northside School District). She lived for over 75 years in Leon Valley on Sawyer Road in the home that was part of the N.C. (Tom) Sawyer (former Husband) Real Estate Development, which he started in 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Carlos & Reinhart (Sam) Meyer; sister, Blanche Doyle; daughter, Mary Jo Boren (Jim); grandchildren, William Bowers, Kelley Sawyer, and Mark Simmang. She is survived by children, Ruth Jacobs of Coral Gables, FL and Tom Sawyer (Betty) of San Antonio, TX; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Mary Louise Condel and numerous nieces & nephews. The Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m., , 22, 2014 at Sunset Chapel. The family is grateful for Roy & Charlie Parkman, devoted caregivers who made it possible for her to stay in her home until very close to the end.
