Obituary: On 12, 2009, Terry Emerson Sawtelle died of natural causes with her family present. Terry was a kind person, good friend, happy wife, loving mother, and a caring grandmother. Terry lived a life strongly rooted in San Antonio. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Everett Sprague Zed and Ruth Wyllys West Emerson. Terrys education included Saint Marys Hall and Monticello Godfrey, Illinois, and the University of Texas at Austin. Terry served on Courts of the Order of the Alamo, as both Duchess and Queen. In 1949, Terry presided as Queen of the Court of Gaiety. She was also very active in the Junior League, in San Antonio and Mexico City, as well as the San Antonio Country Club. her graduation from the University of Texas, Terry worked at the international law firm of Goodrich, Riquelme and Associates in Mexico City later working with the State Department in Guatemala City, Guatemala. While in Guatemala, it was here she met her first husband, Robert Edward Bob Leslie born Assumption, Illinois, and became interested in archeological explorations and discoveries of the Mayan culture. the birth of her first daughter, her family moved to Rochester, New York, and later to Mexico City, where her two sons were born. Terry loved Mexico, having an enormous fondness for the culture, language, and people. Here she actively assisted other stateside families assimilate to life in a foreign country, in addition to her participation in the Junior League, Garden Club, Episcopal Church, and Greengates School, which was attended by her three children. Her family later moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, where Terry helped with Sister Kellers Orphanage, leading clothing donation drives and other volunteer activities. She especially loved visits to Cozumel, where she and her family were frequent guests of her beloved uncle and aunt, Burnell Bink, and Alice Goodrich. Terry returned with her children to San Antonio, where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Toole Bob Sawtelle. Terry later began a catering business which allowed her to share her gourmet cooking skills with others. During their marriage, Terry and Bob traveled, hosted numerous gatherings at their home, and enjoyed a nightly game of backgammon. also regularly attended retreats to Laity Lodge, always working to grow their spirits and their minds. Terry loved people, and the world will never see a better hostess. She was always the life of any gathering, and lived a full and happy life, and she left this world knowing she is well loved. Terry was preceded in death by her dear sister Jane Emerson Maclin, and loving husband Robert Toole Sawtelle, and is survived by her daughter Adreon Leslie and granddaughter Alexandra Isabella Isa Jones; son William Emerson Leslie, wife Sharon, and grandchildren William Taylor Leslie, Whitney Blythe Kirby, and Stephenson Blair Leslie; and son Robert Edward Leslie, Jr. and grandchildren Sharon Terry Leslie and Everett Sprague Zed Leslie; sister Nancy Emerson White; brother-in-law Samuel Earl Maclin; nieces Nancy Maclin Kane, Margaret Molly Maclin Matthews, and Terry White Hubbard; nephews Samuel Todd Maclin, David Patton White, and Claiborne Duval White. Terry leaves behind numerous grand nephews and nieces, her long time friend and companion Alejandra de la Torre, and a host of loving friends. |

Obituary: Dr. William Sawtelle, age 86, of San Antonio, Texas died , 5, 2003. Dr. Sawtelle was a graduate of UT Austin, UT Medical School Galveston and University of Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa. He truly loved all of his patients during his 50 years of practicing medicine in San Antonio. His partners during practice were Dr. Perry Nadig and Dr. Jerry Kruse. Obituary: Ralph Anthony Sawl passed in peace 28, 2016 at the age of 82 yrs. He is survived by his wife Margaret to whom he was a loving husband, friend and companion for 61 years. Two daughters Victoria Talley (son in law Tommy) of New Castle, Pennsylvania; Bonnie Maynard (son in law Albert) of Burnet, Texas; son Michael Sawl (daughter in law Diana) of Marble Falls, Texas. Also surviving him are his Grandchildren Tawyna Stelter, Trinity Talley, Marvin Talley, Sasha Talley of New Castle, Pennsylvania; Tisha Sawl and Britney Maynard of Burnet, Texas. He leaves many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren along with multiple lifelong friends. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, hardworking, loyal Steelers fan, proud patriot who served his country and proud family man who loved fishing, wood working, golfing, playing sports and bowling. Ralph lived a full rich life, and always placed his family above all else. No services are planned at this time. A private family gathering will be held later.
