Obituary: Edward R. Samz, 85, of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away on , 10, 2016. He was born in Mishicot, Wisconsin on , 26, 1930 to Oscar and Francis Samz. He was married to Phyllis for 42 years. Edward had a career in the Navy and Air Force as well as in engineering at Brown & Root. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bellevue, Nebraska and had a passion for his grandchildren, golfing and playing pool. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Samz. Edward is survived by his daughter, Traci Whitfield and husband Martin; son, Marty Samz; grandchildren Becky Wilson and husband Steve, Sarah and Steven Whitfield and Macy Samz; grandsons Rylan Whitfield and Easton Wilson; as well as numerous family members and friends. Obituary: Roger James Samways, 76, passed away , 6, 2015 after fighting a fast and furious battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on 21, 1938, in Weymouth, England to Pat and Ernest Samways, he lived an exciting and full life. graduating from his beloved Hampton Grammar School, where he was active in soccer and cricket, he achieved his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial of London. Early in his career, he was a member of the team at Hawker Siddeley in London that was responsible for the patented STOL mechanism on the Harrier Aircraft. He then relocated with Lockheed in Atlanta, Georgia, which is where his children were born, and his love for life in America was realized. being transferred back to England for a brief time, he made it known his desire to permanently relocate to the United States. He achieved a position with Kellogg in order to do this, was relocated to Houston, Texas, and he worked for this company under its many name changes(MW Kellogg, Kellogg-Brown&Root, Halliburton) until his retirement, as a Chief Technology Engineer, in 2004. During his tenure at this company, he recruited and mentored many young engineers. In 1966, Roger married Elizabeth Broadbridge. Together, they would travel all over the world, living at various times in England, America, India and Australia. were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next year. Perhaps his proudest achievement was in raising their 3 children: Emma Jane Sims, and Justyn and Mark Samways. Throughout his life, Roger was an avid sportsman. He was quite successful as a young man in table tennis, winning many tournaments. Playing soccer his whole life, he coached while in Georgia. He played cricket on many continents, and served as Captain of the Houston Cricket Club during the eighties. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a round of golf, as long as he was the first one on the tee box. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and older brother David. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, sister, Angela Pickering, and brother Philip, nephew, Paul Samways, nieces Jacqueline Kiff and Fenella Samways, as well as his children and their spouses, and 8 grandchildren, whom he adored. We welcome all who knew and loved Roger to join us in a celebration of his life at 11 am on , 14 at Forest Park The Woodlands , with a reception at Baker Street Pub in Market Street to follow. |

He attended NYU and spent his entire work career in retail. He was one of the founders of Handy Dan and Handy City, both based in San Antonio, and retired as Executive VP of Handy City. Obituary: Hyman (Hymie) Samuelson was born 11, 1919 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and died in Austin, Texas 23, 2010. Hymie graduated in 1940 from Louisiana State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served in World War II with the 96th Engineers. Hymie was a business owner of Slax Menswear alongside his cousin Danny Samuelson for over 50 years. He was an avid writer, teacher, family man, community volunteer, philanthropist, lover of all people young and old, Jewish community leader serving as President of Congregation Beth Israel and The Jewish Federation of Austin. He was active in many other Jewish organizations and was instrumental in the formation of the Jewish Community and Child Development at Congregation Beth Israel. He was also passionate about his involvement with The Circle of Friends Alzheimers Group. He was preceded in death on May 3, 2007 by his wife of over 60 years, Louise. He is survived by his four children, his son Jerry Samuelson and his wife Jimmie, their children Brett and Billie Samuelson and Darren and Becky Samuelson and their seven grandchildren; his daughter Becky Newberry and her husband David, their children Lindsey and Tom Macomber, Eliot and Amy Levin and their three grandchildren; his daughter Debbie Pearson and her husband Hank, their three children Denise and Frank Hart, Brandon and Deborah Ginsburg, Kevin and Cherise Ginsburg, and their eight grandchildren; his son Aric Samuelson and his wife Pam, their children Sam, Nathan and Jacob Samuelson.
