Obituary: If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be J. D. Edward Synamon. He was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around him had whatever they needed. J. D. was a talkative person who was tactful at all times but typically said what he meant. J. D. was born at home in Sneedville, Tennessee on 30, 1944. He was the son of James Roy and Ethel Synamon. J. D. was raised in Harrisburg, VA. During his childhood he learned to be reliable and respectful. J. D. was an obedient child who wanted to win the favor of others. He found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of J. D. s personality throughout his life. Though J. D. was frequently the one to initiate games and activities with his family, he was also quite often the family member who took the role of referee. J. D. was a peace-maker with an ability to resolve all sorts of family conflicts. In fact, J. D. worked conscientiously to keep those typical family spats at bay. J. D. was raised with three siblings. He had two brothers, Larry and J. R. and one sister, Glenda. J. D. and his siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another. As someone who reveled in the sheer joy of his experiences, J. D. was always enthusiastic about new adventures. Although he had an exacting nature, J. D. was always tactful. One thing J. D. will certainly be remembered for is that, when he got up in the mornings, he was ready and raring to go. As a young boy, J. D. had a number of interests and was an active child. J. D. took part in baseball. For J. D., the school routines were never a problem although he generally preferred variety to structure. He seemed to be able to start a project and work right through to its completion. And he was able to do it quickly and efficiently. J. D. was also adept at details. J. D. was very observant and was generally quick at picking up new things. He attended Stonewall Jackson High. J. D. completed his high school education while in the Armed Forces. J. D. was a faithful and loving person. Some would even call him sentimental and a romantic at heart. His kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around him. J. D. cared for what others thought and carried that into his marriage. On 18, 1993 J. D. married Lynn Register at the home of family and friends of Morristown, Tennessee. Compassionate and devoted, J. D. worked hard to make his new wife happy. Harmony was important to J. D. and he made every effort to maintain it with his family. J. D. was blessed with one child and two step-children; son, Jimmy Synamon; step-son, Josh Register and step-daughter, Shannon Cross. were also blessed with three grandchildren; Angie Fink, Katelyn Baxley and Sierra Russell and five great-grandchildren; Triston, Alexis, and Joshlin Fink, Kaleigh Baxley and Waylon Russell. J. D. was always conscious of the feelings others. He was reasonable and understanding. As a result, J. D. was quick to solve disputes and did so without much fuss. His secret of success in this area was simple: J. D. would listen before he would act. Taking his work seriously came naturally to J. D., and he expected the same from those around him. J. D. was a good team player, someone who was born to cooperate with others. He was what some would call a people person and it was demonstrated in his good communication skills. J. D. was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. The kind of details that would give family members and work colleagues fits were situations that J. D. handled well. He could understand the details without getting lost in the broad ig picture. His primary occupation was truck driving. He was employed for more than 30 years by Norfolk Southern Railroad. Blessed with a practical nature, J. D. was a person who appreciated the routine of the military. He was a man who took his obligations seriously, working well with the others in his unit. J. D. was an Army veteran in the 101st Airborne Division. J. D. saw action for two tours in the Vietnam War. Through his hard work and dedication, he achieved the rank of Sergeant E5. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart. A methodical man, J. D. enjoyed spending time working on his various hobbies. He had no problem following all of the steps and instructions on a given project and was proud of the fact that he could have something to show for his efforts. His favorite pursuits were listening to music and spending time with his family. J. D. was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth his best effort. In high school, J. D. played baseball. J. D. also liked being a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams whenever he got the opportunity. At the top of his list was racing. His high moral standards and traditional values served J. D. well with his faith. Religion and faith were important to him. He was a member of Montvue Baptist Church. During that time, he was a member of the choir. He was well respected because he was such an outgoing individual who sought to help in any manner he could. J. D. was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. J.D.s favorite pets were Sassy, a chihuahua and miniature pincher mix and Coco, a chihuahua. His continued... |

Obituary: On 7, 2017 Frederick Charles Symons lost his battle with dementia and passed into the arms of our Lord. Fred, born in Darby, Pa moved at age three to Florida, settling in the Daytona Beach Area where he spent his childhood. At 19 years old Fred was accepted into the apprenticeship program of IBEW Local Union 756 where he was an active member of 43 years. A great lover of all God's creatures, Fred often found himself awash in cats, dogs, birds, turtles and even a snake or two. He enjoyed taking care of them and the squirrels enjoyed the peanuts. He loved to fish, play pool and spend time with his family. He was a loyal member of FOE Aerie 4257 and loved spending time with his friends sharing tall tales. Most of all Fred was a devoted husband and loving father, adoring " Opa" who loved making funny faces with his grandchildren who squealed with laughter. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Karen Lowry Bechtel Symons, his son Lawrence Brian Bechtel, daughter-in-law Candy Stevens Bechtel, grandchildren Shelby Elise Bechtel and Jensen Elliot Bechtel. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Marsha Lowry Church (Dan), Ex sister-in-law JoAnn McReynolds Lowry, niece Julia Lowry Taylor (Sam), nephews William Dean Lowry (Allison), and Byron Taylor Church, great nieces Allison Samantha Taylor and Abbey Taylor Charles. He is preceded in death by his parents Ethel W. Symons and David W. Symons, half sister Gladys and half Brother David, mother-in-law Evelyn Z. Lowry, father-in-law William Lavada Lowry, Jr. and brother-in-law William Howard Lowry. Fred's straight talk, his wonderful sense of humor, his love of animals and his great love for his family and friends will be missed by all who know him. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to an animal shelter of your choice or to the Pat Summitt Foundation. Graveside services will held at 1pm , 15, 2017 at Berry Highland Memorial . Family and friends will be assembling at 12:30pm at the Chapel.
