Obituary: Ruth Daves Swink, 96, of Laurens, South Carolina, widow of Lloyd Webster Swink, entered into eternal rest , 11, 2016. Her Service will be held , 18, 2016, in Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road, at 2:00 p.m. with burial following in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the church , one hour prior to service. by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Ruth was born 19, 1920 in Durham, North Carolina, daughter of the late John Wesley Daves and Mary Elizabeth Ferrell Daves. She was the former Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Charleston and Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church. Ruth was a member of the Rebecca Mott Chapter of the DAR, The Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the Charleston Exchange Club Auxiliary and the Gideons. She was also a Hall of Fame recipient in 1988 from the Charleston Federation of Womens Club. Ruth is survived by her son, Reverend Dr. David W. Swink (Grace) of Deland, FL; daughter, Susanne Higgins (Wesley) of Columbia, SC; two sisters: Mary Helen Hill of Thomasville, NC and Catherine Church of Asheboro, NC; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Obituary: Dolores Taylor Swink COLUMBIA \ Dolores Taylor Swink, 78, passed away on , 3, 2012 at Providence Hospital surrounded by her loving family. services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 7, 2012 at Caughman-Harman , Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Interment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. , 6, 2012 at the funeral home chapel. Dolores was born 12, 1934 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late James and Maggie Taylor. She was a 1952 graduate of Glynn Academy. She was married for 51 years to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, the late Richard Swink. Dolores enjoyed her life as a United States Marine Corps wife and raising her three children whom she loved and cherished and continued to share that love with her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. All who knew Dolores knew her as a person with a sweet spirit and someone who always tried to live her life by showing love as it is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 13. In addition to her parents and husband Dolores was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kay Swink and a brother, Wilbert Taylor. Surviving are her children, Rick (Teresa) Swink of Chapin, Jim (Greta) Swink of Cayce, Kathy (Tray) Coker of Lexington; six grandchildren, Brittany (Dane) Knowles, Lauren (Matt) Earle, Bobby and Maggie Coker, Will and MacKenzie Swink and two great-grandchildren, Braiden and Mason Earle; two brothers, Oran Taylor and Donald (Lea) Taylor; two sisters, Hazel Yeargin and Lyn (Butch) Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Barbara Babb and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Hospital for your kindness and care and especially Dr. Cauthen and staff at Midlands Pulmonary.
