Obituary: COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Walter Clark “Walt” Speas, Jr., 73, will be held at 4:00 p.m. , May 13, 2016, at Bethel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral and immediately following the service at the church. A burial will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg, PA. Walt died , May 10, 2016. Born 11, 1943, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Walter Clark Speas and Linda Mundorf Speas. He was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School, class of 1961, where he was a member of the Track Team and the ing Band. As a former Boy Scout at the Progress Church of God, Troop 79, Walt attained the rank of LIFE scout and served as a Scoutmaster of Troop 79 for 10 years. As a member of the Order of the Arrow, he attained the rank of VIGIL member. Walt was also a member of the Westshoremen-Bonnie-Scotts Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. Upon graduating high school, he worked for Sears in Harrisburg until 1964, and again from 1968 until 1969. He was a member and Past Master of Euclid Lodge No. 698, F & A M, in 1987, now merged with Robert Burns Lodge No. 464, both in Harrisburg, PA, since 25, 1979. Walt served in the US Air Force from 13, 1964 until 10, 1968, leaving with an honorable discharge and the Rank of Sergeant. the Air Force, he was the Assistant Coach for the Penn Gardens Girls Softball Teams from ’79 to ’85. Employed by A.M. International, 1969 to 2000, formerly Addressograph-Multigraph, Walt moved to Columbia in of 1987 as District Service Manager. The company merged with A.B. Dick in 2000, and was later bought out by Presstek in 2006. He retired from Presstek on 10, 2010. As an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Walt was the President of the Men’s Club and B.U.M.S. He was also a member of the Chancel Choir and Hand Bell Choir. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Miller Speas; daughters, Lesley Speas Blackwelder (Stephen) of Fort Mill, Pamela Lyn Speas, Suzane Marie Speas and Patricia Hellen Boggs all of Columbia; grandson, Zachary Andrew Blackwelder; and sister, Arlene Speas Klawitter of Harrisburg, PA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Lee Speas; and a brother-in-law, Bob Klawitter. Obituary: COLUMBIA service for Ruby Rabon Green Spears, 89, will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 16, 2015, at Greenlawn Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Dunbar , Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Spears died , 14, 2015. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John Tillman and Estelle Stewart Rabon. She retired from H.U.D. A current member of Greenlawn Baptist Church, she was the former organist at Pine Bluff Baptist Church where her husband, the Rev. Ernest Green, served as pastor. Surviving are her husband, Albert P. Spears and his family; son, Rev. Richard A. Green (Linda) of Columbia; two grandchildren, Donna G. Mills (Erik) of Alpharetta, Ga., Claudia G. Harkey (Edward) of Irmo; 10 great-grandchildren, Hannah Mills, Laia Mills, Zachary Thompson, Harrison Cunningham, Hope Cunningham, Zoe Harkey, Beau Harkey, Brody Harkey, Maxwell Harkey and Mukki Harkey. Obituary: Lisa Spears - Easley, SC Lisa Diane Gregory Spears, 44, of 212 Meadow Lane, passed away , 14, 2011. Born in Knoxville, TN, a daughter of Susie Reidneor Gregory of Knoxville, TN, and the late Vernon Gregory, Mrs. Spears earned her Bachelors Degree in from ETSU - Johnson City, TN. and her Masters Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina She was a nurse practitioner with Spartanburg Orthopaedics and was of the Southern Baptist faith. Lisa began her career in the treatment of cancer patients where her selfless and caring nature flourished. She often placed the needs of her patients above her own. As a colleague and and er School Teacher, she was an inspiration and joy to those around her. Though Lisa stood only 53, everyone seemed to look up to her as she was often quoted saying Dynamite comes in small packages and she had a tremendous work ethic and was very compassionate. Her life will always be remembered as a giving spirit whose love for friends, patients, family and her pets will be a lasting legacy to the lives of those she touched. She is loved and will be dearly missed. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Brian Lee Spears of the home; two brothers, Dennis Gregory and Johnny Gregory, both of Knoxville; and a sister, Tammy Houk of Knoxville. In addition to her father, Mrs. Spears was predeceased by a brother, Randy Gregory. Memorial services will be 4:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson -Powdersville Road. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family is at the residence.
