Obituary: Louetta A. Slice CHAPIN - A memorial service for Louetta A. Slice, 74, will be held at 10:00 a.m. , 25, 2015, at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. , 24, 2015, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 215 St Thomas Church Road, Chapin SC 29036 and the Chapin Eagle Club (Scoreboard fund), PO Box 113, Chapin, SC 29036. Mrs. Slice was born 6, 1941 in Chapin, SC and passed away on , 21, 2015. She was a daughter of the late Harry E. Amick and Vera Lindler Amick. She was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and former church organist for many years. Louetta especially loved her Chapin High School friends in the Class of 1959. Louetta was Owner, President and CEO of Generations Senior . In of 1962, she received her Registered Degree from South Carolina Baptist Hospital School and for Nurses, and she received her Bachelor of Science from St. Josephs Catholic , Maine, with a major in Administration in May 1986. Early in her career Louetta was employed at Baptist Medical in the Emergency Room and at Rikard where she realized her love for caring for the elderly. She was later a nurse and then the Director of at the Lowman , She eventually became an Assistant Administrator, then Executive Vice President, and eventually the Executive Administrator of Piedmont Lutheran and Lutheran s of SC. Louetta decided to leave her position with Lutheran s of SC and open her own assisted living facility in Batesburg-Leesville called Generations. With her passion and guidance there is now a Generations of Batesburg-Leesville, Monetta, Chapin, and Irmo. She was owner, President, CEO of Generx, LLC, a closed pharmacy for assisted living and nursing facilities in SC, and General Partner of By Generations - in home care. She was also managing partner of Harbison Hall assistant living. Louetta was Past Chairperson of the Board of Examiners for Administrators for SC. She received appointment to the board from former Governors Riley and Campbell for 6 consecutive years. She was also a past member of the Executive Board of the SC Association, Executive Vice President of the SC Association of Residential s and Assisted Living Facilities in SC, and Chairperson of the Education Committee for the SC Association of Residential s and Assisted Living Facilities in SC. Louetta received the Presidents Award from the SC Association in 1997 and the Crystal Award from the SC Association of Residential s in 1999. Louetta was a member of both the Chapin Chamber of Commerce and the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce. She was a Charter member and organizer of the Greater Chapin Community Endowment, President of the Endowment for 5 years, and inducted into the Chapin Hall of Fame in 2006. Survivors, are her husband, Heyward Slice; daughter, Beth Bedenbaugh (Todd); son, Tim Slice (Molly); grandchildren, Emory Bedenbaugh, Mary Mary-Mac McGregor Slice, Harrison Bedenbaugh, Salley Slice, Adam Bedenbaugh; sisters, Geri Gambill, Marie Stoudemire and many nieces and nephews and her special companion, her dog, Lucy; special friends, Charlie Goff and cousin, Mary White Epting. The family would like to extend a special thank you to North Hollingsworth, Virginia Merritt, and Rick and Penny Dillard for their love and care over the last year and a special thank you to Betty Pelletier ANP, Dr. Steven Madden, and the many caregivers on 8th floor Oncology at Lexington Medical for their wonderful care during her illness. She was predeceased by her sister, Edna Gilliam. Caughman-Harman Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. |

Obituary: COLUMBIA - Memorial service for David Franklin Slice, 75, will be held at 4:00 p.m. , 3, 2014, in the chapel at Union United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church narthex. Dave passed away , 25, 2014. Born in Irmo, he was a son of the late Owen Kenneth Slice and Mattie Ozela Younginer Slice. He graduated from Irmo High School in 1957 and later served in the U.S. Army. serving the in the military he worked for the City of Columbia, Water Department, several nuclear plants in instrumentation and Eau Claire Television. He enjoyed fishing and was a hard worker throughout his life. Dave was also a lifetime member of Union United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Debbie Slice; son, Kenny “Country” Slice (Tammy) of Pillion; granddaughter, Jenna Slice of Pillion; step-daughter, Sjolander of La.; step-grandchildren, Lacey, Tommy, Ashli Sjolander, Zoey Brownlee, Chad Brownlee; sisters, Betty Bauknight of West Columbia, Annie Dorn (Bobby) of Irmo, Bonnie Graham of Chapin, Margaret Bauknight of Ballentine; and his canine companion his little boy, Coco. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Special Olympics, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201. |

Horeb Lutheran Church, Chapin, SC with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. , 15, 2014 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church. Caughman-Harman , Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Slice was born 19, 1911 in Chapin, SC and passed away on , 13, 2014. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Hampton Rauch and Ella Shealy Rauch. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 75 years. She sang in the Church Choir for 38 years and was a member of the Adult School Class and the Leisure Timers. She taught School, was a Dutch Fork Volunteer, and worked with the Senior Citizens in the Chapin area for a number of years. She retired from The Lowman as a Assistant and formerly worked in the Chapin - Lexington School District 5. She enjoyed church activities, watching Braves baseball, Gamecock football, basketball, gardening and was famous for her coconut pies. Surviving are daughter, Phyllis (Jim) S. Metts of Chapin; son, Bernard Slice of Columbia and grandchildren, Jimmy (Lauren) Metts, Dennie (Todd) Bedenbaugh; great-grandchildren, Madison Metts, Jay Metts and Corey Bedenbaugh; sisters-in-law, Frances Derrick of Chapin, Cecil Sealy of West Columbia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. N. Knocker Slice and her sisters, Annie Bickley, Marie Stoudemire and Nezzie Addy. |
