Obituary: SILVER, Charlotte departed this life , 29th, 2016. Charlotte was born to Artie Beatrice (nee Cash) and Alfred Charles Smith on 31, 1922 and was predeceased by her husband Frederick with whom she shared 54 wonderful years and her son Delbert Lee Silver. She is survived by her children, Patty Silver, Anita Beck (Doug), Kathleen Grubb (Bob), John Silver (Frankie), Mark Silver (Jeanie) and her loving dog, Dixie. She was grandmother to Gina Jacobs (Michael), Carol Bohman (Greg), Thomas Beck, and Frank Beck. Kristin Hoffman (Rick), Robbie Grubb, Matt Silver (Kat), Michelle Havlin (Matt). She was Great Grandmother to Nathan Jacobs, Ian Jacobs, Adam Jacobs and Timmy Jacobs, Karson Beck, Lyndsay Beavers, Anthony Garcia (Makayla), and Great-Great Grandmother to Kara Silver, Collin Silver, Lincoln Silver and Becky, Jamie Beavers and JJ Beavers, and Kaylee Havlin who is waiting to be born in . Also surviving are Marlene Lorton, a special daughter-in-law, and Sue Whisman, a close family friend. Charlotte's life included working at the NCR where she met Fred and married him 30, 1944 in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Later, she began having their children and became a stay at home mom. Mom and dad were active in the Legion and the Auxiliary in Vandalia where mother still attended meetings and assisted with dinners and projects that were in support of the community and its families and children. dad retired, he began a job of working with titles and bringing back cars to the Beau Townsend Auto dealership and mom was the tagalong buddy who loved getting out and about and handling the paperwork for the titles while dad did the driving. Family was her life. She was known to do hoop dee diddly for all the grandkids and greatest of grands with rides up and down on her leg and kids begging her to do it again. And she played ball of all kinds with the kids, her own kids and others who found that she could be a cool grandma to any child in need of a grandma. She loved to hear them giggle and sing and pasted all their artwork on the fridge and it stayed there till they graduated. Her love of family washed over to her love of friends and she cherished them and helped them when they needed her and was constantly making folks laugh and turning bad days into good ones. She loved her flag and was so patriotic. Mother represented the American Legion Auxiliary with her friend Nila Winchell at every home football game by raising the flag before the game for 50 years. She would sing God Bless America like no one else could at intermission at the Bingo games at the Legion Post. Her love of music and being outdoors just doing was her biggest fun things to do. She could mow and rake with the best of them. And she gardened with her husband Fred and enjoyed all the produce that came from it. She worked hard raising her family and her claim to fame was being the world's best mom. She provided care to those who needed it. Found time to call folks who needed a call, and was always saying thank you for anything, big or small, that someone did for her. Always. Right down to the last few days of her life when the nurses would help her with something being needed and done. We should all take a lesson from her and put it to use every day. The family would like to extend a thank you to Cypress Pointe where mother was cared for by the best of the best. With their help, they extended her family to include them and we were supported and given encouragement and felt the love they shared for her when they were caring for her. To all of them who provided that to mother while there, we say thank you. Keep up those happy hours on afternoons. There will be a private family gathering at the Tobias , followed by a Graveside Services at 11:00 am , 4, 2016 at POLK GROVE CEMETERY, corner of Frederick Pike and St. Rt. 40 Vandalia. There will be a luncheon at the American Legion Post 668, 742 W. National Rd. Vandalia, Ohio following the graveside service, the only thing missing there will be her and her baked beans. In lieu of flowers, please remember Charlotte by donating to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Hospital, or the Animal Humane Society of Montgomery .
