Obituary: Alma Katherine Mobley Shepard went home to be with her Lord on 29, 2015. She was born in Cornishville, Kentucky on 6, 1926 to Marshall B. and Georgie (Sims) Mobley. Alma married John M. Shepard on 7, 1942. were married 68 years before his death in 2010. Alma was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Whether living in her own house, her retirement condominium or her assisted-living apartment she had a special gift for creating a warm, happy environment. She loved decorating and making each home a place of unique beauty. She was a talented cook and was known for her Swiss steak, apple pie, cherry cobbler and fudge. Alma was co-owner of Shepard Insurance Agency and skillfully managed the office for over 20 years. Alma has been a member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God and its predecessor, the Grand Avenue Church of God for over 55 years. She was a School teacher for hundreds of four year olds over a period of 25 years. She spent many happy hours creating lessons and crafts for other teachers to use with their students. She taught kindergarten church and Vacation Bible School, served on the church bereavement committee, did local missionary work, and was the Prime Time coordinator. She worked in the School office and served on the Board of Christian Education for eighteen years. As a widow, Alma moved to the Inn of Renaissance Village (now Bickford) where she has made her home for nearly four years. She and a group of her friends sat together at meals and their dining place became known as the Happy Table. One of her special talents was crafting. She made many decorations for windows, walls, tables, and other places at the facility. She was known to the staff for her pleasant, gracious spirit and her polite, appreciative manners. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 68 years, John; a brother, William, and a son-in-law, Marvin. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Gunckle, her son, John (Barbara) Shepard, Jr., five grandchildren: Jennifer Miller, Michael (Betsy) Shepard, Brian Shepard, Stacey Gunckle, and Bradley (Shannon) Gunckle, and six great-grandchildren: Hunter, Jordan, Carter, Hannah, Braden, and Evelyn. Other survivors include sisters Oneida Royalty and Patsy (Vernon) Dean and brothers Marshall B. (Dixie) Mobley Jr., and Jimmy (Dottie) Mobley. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Shirley Shepard and Harold Wayne (Carol) Shepard and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. Almas family would like to thank the staff at Bickford (formerly the Inn at Renaissance Village) for their love, care, and friendship and the pastors and members of The Towne Boulevard Church of God for their visits and prayers. also are grateful to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and Tom and Mark who helped make her last days in Atrium Medical ICU comfortable and peaceful. Alma, through her faith and her actions has left this world a brighter, sweeter and more beautiful place because of her time here. A visitation will be held , 3, 2015 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Baker-Stevens-Parramore . A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Terry Ball officiating. Obituary: ALAN M. SHEPARD Alan M. Shepard, age 52, of Toledo, passed away , May 7, 2012, in his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was born on 17, 1960, in Sylvania to Alan and Joann (Pranky) Shepard. Alan was previously employed for Brent Industries as a Plant Manager. He married the former Ruth Little on 17, 2001 in Las Vegas. In his spare time Alan enjoyed collecting guns and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Jennifer Blakemore, Bubba (Rachael) Henry, and Stephen (Kelly) Crews; favorite daughter, Chelsea Crews, grandchildren, Anthony, Cameron, Killian, K.J., Lovie and Dakota; and siblings, Joe and Debbie Shepard.
