Obituary: On 31, 2010, Charles (Bud) Bernard Schafer passed away at his home in Rootstown Ohio. Charles was 76 years old and a resident of Rootstown for 38 years. He was raised in Wheeling, West Virginia by his parents Pauline Gurtrude (Blat) Schafer and Albert M Schafer. Charles retired from Alcoa Aluminum after 32 years in 1987. Charles is survived by his wife Shirley (Klatik) Schafer, children: Cindy (Duncan) Sladkey of Rootstown, James Duncan of Brimfield, Joshua Duncan of Mentor, and seven grandchildren: Maryssa, Zachary, Drake, Nathan, Dominic, Jacob, and Zoie. Charles is also survived by his brothers James Schafer of Coldwater Michagan, Robert Schafer of Elm Grove West Virgina, along with sister Patricia (Schafer) Masteller of Moundsville West Virgina. Charles was a quiet, gentle man with a heart full of love for everyone. He enjoyed watching planes at the air show, riding on trains, camping, traveling the United States and spending time with his family. Friends will be received at Grace Church, 4808 Tallmadge Rd., Rootstown, Ohio, on , 5, from 11:00A.M. until the 1:00P.M. funeral service officiated by Pastor Ron Regas. Obituary: Mrs. Ann Schafer, age 99, passed away , 18, 2015 at the Lantern of Madison, Ohio. She was born 17, 1915 in Cleveland, Ohio, to James and Kathryn (nee ONeal) Davis. Ann started teaching in 1936 in Wellington, Ohio when teachers were not allowed to teach if they were married. She was married in the summer of 1942 and she had to resign. But before the summer was over the ban was lifted, because the men teachers were needed in World War II. So Mrs. Schafer continued teaching. She taught in Wellington, Aurora and Madison for thirty-five years. She taught in two Private Nursery Schools and two Public Nursery Schools. She was an early childhood Specialist in Head Start for nine summers, and a Cleveland Playground Instructor for five summers. She tutored one hundred children during her teaching career. In 1951 Ann Schafer also co-founded the Aurora Public Kindergarten with Mrs. Betts Colbrook. Ann thoroughly enjoyed teaching school, and it was certainly her calling in life…. Ann belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teacher sorority, Lake Teachers Society, Ohio Teachers Association, National Teachers Association, Friendship Guild, Madison Historical Society and Diabetic Support Group. She was a Den Mother, a Girl Scout Leader and she taught School. She was a Volunteer Floor Assistant and a Volunteer Card Worker at Breckenridge Village. Anns biggest pleasure was her wonderful family. She demonstrated unconditional love, particularly with her family, but also to her many friends. Survivors are her sons Jim (Judy) Schafer, Tom (Penny) Schafer and her niece who she raised Colleen Holland, grandchildren Michael (Lisa) Schafer and Scott (Kelli) Schafer, grandnephews Jason (Joyce) Holland, and Sean (Sarah Middelton) Holland, great grandchildren, Katlyn, Jacob, Jessica, Lydia, Emily, and Alyssa Schafer, Lexi and Haley Holland. Her husband Paul Schafer died in 1957. Her parents James M. and Kathryn Davis, brothers James E. Davis and Kenneth Davis, sisters Jessie Miller, Kathleen O. Davis, and her infant sister Geraldine Davis are deceased.
