Obituary: Lonnie Francis Sykes, 76, received his Crown on 24, 2014 with his family by his side. Born on 14, 1937, the oldest of 10 children to the Late William Edwin & Pauline Barber Sykes. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a sister, Dovie Marie Sykes. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara Jackson Sykes, children Eddie Sykes, Gary (Priscilla) Sykes, Robert Sykes, Donna (Tony) Maldonado and Faith Sykes all of Leland, NC. Also surviving are his grandchildren Logan Maldonado, Drake Maldonado, Isabella Maldonado, Clara (Fiancé- Bobby Powers) Glisson and Mark Sykes, one great-granddaughter, Remington Powers. He is also survived by his brothers, Russell (Sandy)Sykes of Brooklet, GA, Phill Sykes, Marlon Sykes, Randy (Roberta) Sykes all of Riegelwood, NC. Sisters, Phyllis (Ted) Linnartz, Jan (Bill) Harrison, Kay (Mike) McKinney all of Riegelwood, NC, and Fonda (Fiancé \ Dean Lazzaro) Sykes of Wilmington, NC. Also, his passing is felt by many nephews, nieces, family and friends. Lonnie was a faithful member of The Wilmington First Church of the Nazarene for many years. His love for God vastly showed through the life he lived and his testimony. Next to God, he loved his family unconditionally and was an example for his children to follow. Pallbearers are Logan Maldonado, Drake Maldonado, Marlon Sykes, Randy Sykes, Doug Bass, Dean Sykes. Honorary Pallbearers are Oliver Sykes & Ricky Todd. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on , 28, 2014, at Coble Ward Smith, on Oleander Dr. and other times at the home. will held , 29, 2014, at 11am at Coble with Rev. Derrell Clark officiating. Burial will be at Cape Fear Baptist , Riegelwood, NC. |
