Obituary: Donald A. , 62, was fatally injured in a cycling accident on (7/23rd) in King, NC. Don was born 12, 1947 in Brocton, NY. He owned and operated a commercial roofing company over twenty years in Syracuse, NY, before moving to Winston-Salem in 1991, where he opened the first American Roof Brite franchise in Forsyth . Mr. was predeceased by his father Alfred and his sister LuAnn -Farrell. Surviving Mr. is his wife Patricia Phelps ; mother Lucille Manzella living in Brocton, NY; two sons Scott (Lorrie) living in King and Todd (Cindy) living in Columbus, OH; three grandchildren Nikolas, Lukus, and Taylor; and several cousins living in Brocton. A Memorial Service, celebrating Mr. s life, will be conducted on (7/28th) at 7:00 PM, Vogler Reynolda Chapel, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem (336-722-6106) with Rev Skipp Furrow officiating. Obituary: Sarah Lee Sun, age 98, our beloved Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on , 24, 2010 while a patient at WakeMed Hospital in Cary, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sam, in 1993. Sarah was born in Tianjin, China on 21, 1912, the youngest of three children. She was a brilliant scholar, one of a select few eligible to attend the number one ranking, private Nankai High School. Finishing at the top of her class, she obtained a scholarship to complete her advanced education at the prestigious Nankai University, Alma Mater of the late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai. She graduated Summa cum Laude, majoring in chemistry with math and physics minors. Sarah was promptly hired to teach chemistry, physics and algebra at Nankai High School for boys. She married Sam in 1935. Six years later, she entered the private sector to pursue a career as a research chemist and was quickly promoted to a chemical engineer, working along side her husband. Late in 1948, when the communist took control of the Chinese government, Sarah and their three children joined Sam, who had immigrated to Taiwan earlier that summer. the birth of their youngest daughter in of 1949, Sarah gave up her promising career to become a full-time wife and mother. In 1956, Sam left for America. It took three years before Sarah and their children could reunite with him in the United States. Armed with a few college-level textbooks from the local library, Sarah taught herself the principles of finance and accounting. With her newly acquired knowledge, she began investing in the stock market in 1970. Thirty some years later, she managed a 2,000% return on her original investment. Although hers was a life of extraordinary accomplishments, singularly rare for a woman from her cultural period, Sarah considered her greatest achievement the integral role she played as wife and mother to her husband and children. Her loving influence shaped their character; while her gentle guidance, like the wind beneath their wings, served to ensure their every success. She gave of herself unselfishly, never counting the cost. But most of all, she was a woman who deeply loved her Lord. She will indeed be so terribly missed by those who knew her throughout her amazing life. Sarah is survived by her children, Irene Wu (and Harry) from Michigan, Dave Sun (and Mary) from New Jersey, Eleanor Sun from Cary, Tiffany May (and David) from California, her five grandchildren: Eva Wu, Walter Wu, Richard Sun (and Nicole), Stephanie Sun Hinderks (and Jamie) and Christina Sun Iverson (and Jake) and her two great grandchildren: Blake Sun Hinderks and Marisa Danielle Sun. The family will receive friends at the Brown-Wynne located at 200 SE Maynard Road in Cary from 7 to 9 P.M on , 7, 2011. service will follow at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Cary on , 8, 2011 at 2 P.M.
