Obituary: On 8th, 2011 Donald Curfew Strother went home to eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. His passing was as gracious and peaceful as his living. His life, characterized by his strong work ethic, peaceful demeanor, intelligence, and his steadfast devotion to his wife and family will be remembered and cherished by his family and friends. Donald was born to Dicie Price and K.C. Strother on 22nd, 1941 and grew up in the Green Level Community working on the family farm. Because of his love for the land, he farmed vocationally until the early 1980s and continued cultivating acres of garden every year while pursuing a successful career at Triangle Brick where he remained employed until his passing. Always placing his family first, he was known as a strong, supportive, quiet man whose compassion for his fellow man was evident to all who met him. In 1962 Donald wed the love of his life Mary Gaster Strother who survives him along with his sons Dan Kerman, Darin Anthony (Donna), and Jason Alan (Lori); daughters Vicky Strother Jacobs (Doug) and Anita Strother Sauritch (Ray). Donald was known as Pa to his nine grandchildren: Tyler, Kurt, Austin, Noah, Joe, Shelby, Kaley, Alex and Wiley. Additionally he is survived by his mother, brothers Aubrey (Delores), Doug (Rebecca), and Tommy (Doreen); one sister Carolyn (Bill); sisters and brothers-in-law Trudy G. Waters (Rick) and James Gaster (Mary). Donald was preceded in passing by his father and beloved first born son Donnie with whom he is now reunited. Donald has a large family with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who all love him dearly and are too numerous to mention by name. Later in life Donald enjoyed many wonderful evenings in the mountains with special friends Jim and Linda Jackson. The family will receive friends for visitation at Apex on 10, 2011 from 4:00-6:00pm, with funeral services to be held at Green Level Baptist Church on 11, 2011 at 11:00am. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all who have reached out to them in love and support and asks you to supply the family with one of your favorite "Big D" stories for a keepsake book. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either Hospice of Wake (250 Hospice Circle Raleigh, NC 27607) or Green Level Baptist Church Children & Youth Ministries (8509 Green Level Church Road Cary, NC 27519). Obituary: Scott Van Ness Strong, 52, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on 14, 2011, after a courageous battle with brain tumors. He was born on 16, 1958, in Searingtown, New York. Scott Strong lived his life in daily service and surrender to his King. He was richly blessed with love, compassion, joy, and the gift of music. Each day he awoke to a song in his heart by which he shared the love of Christ with those ever near to him. He lived a life of true worship and unconditional love; his joy was made complete in the knowledge and salvation of Christ. His final words to the family were Love each other, take care of each other and forgive each other". He leaves behind a legacy of love that will richly dwell in the hearts of all he had the privilege of sharing his life with. Scott is lovingly remembered by his wife, Tricia of 32 years; his three daughters, Harmony Vuycankiat and husband Technical Sergeant Eric, Melody Harrell and husband Chris, and Hannah Musette Strong; his grandchildren Donovan, Seth, and Grace Vuycankiat. He will also be missed by his mother Helynn Byers and her husband Tom and by his sister Tracey Kuhn and husband Ken. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew P. Strong. The family will receive friends on , 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, at Mitchell , 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. A Celebration of Scotts Life will be held at 1:00 pm, on afternoon, at Providence Baptist Church, 6339 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh.
