Obituary: Henry (Hank) Strange, Jr. Henry Jefferson Strange, Jr. passed away on May 31, 2011, just shy of his 91st birthday. Born in Paces, Virginia on 12, 1920, he was the third child of Henry J. and Hester Lewis Strange and grew up in Burkeville, Virginia. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 8th Air Force. He was stationed in Norwich, England and served in the European and North African theaters. the war he began work for the General Electric in Richmond, VA and retired from GE in 1990 after 44 years of service. On 1, 1950 he married Ruth Adele Hardy of Catonsville, MD, and the two were wed for 59 years until her passing in 2009. Next to his wife, Hanks greatest joy was his two sons. He was a devoted husband and a kind, gentle, and encouraging father who always had time for his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved to be around children. Hank and Ruth were long time attendees of Calvary Church, where he served as a greeter and usher. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; Ralph J. Strange and Lowry W. Strange; his sisters, Elizabeth Gulick and Forrest Potochney. Surviving him are his sister, Geneva Owen of Charlotte; son, Todd W. Strange and daughter-in-law, Jo Dee Strange of Lincoln University, PA; son, Glenn L. Strange of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jessica L. Strange of Charlotte, and Aaron C. Strange and Samuel T. Strange, both of Lincoln University, PA. A memorial service to celebrate Hanks life will be held at 11:00 am on , 11, 2011 at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Alzheimers Association (alz.org). |

Obituary: Brenda Young Strang, 65, of Lenoir, passed away on , 4, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist . Brenda was born 10, 1956 in Virginia to the late Ray Young and Ruby Myers Herman. She loved Stephen King and Anne McCaffrey novels and supporting her local animal shelters. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Rozzelle and husband Glenn, and Andrew Poteat and wife Angie; grandchildren, Kristina Grigg, Grayson Rozzelle, Chase Rozzelle, and Ariel Poteat; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Grigg and Skylar Grigg. Also surviving is her brother, Coleman Fourshee and wife Penny; nephews, Cole Fourshee and Logan Fourshee and wife Jordan; special friend and caregiver, Norma Ruffner; and the love of her life, her cat, Lil Bit. Obituary: Greensboro, NC Martha Young Strandberg, 88, of Greensboro, died , 27, 2015 at Abbottswood. A funeral service will be held , 2:30 p.m., at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Chapel by The Rev. George H. Greer. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens. Martha was born 16, 1926 in Greensboro, the daughter of the late James Wesley Young and the late Montrose Ballard Young. Martha was a former longtime member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and a graduate of Greensboro where she was a voice and speech major. She was a financial analyst for Gilbarco and retired after more than twenty years. Martha will be remembered by her gentle, quiet spirit, her generous sweet smile, and her love of family. She loved animals, was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed reading. Surviving are her children, John Strandberg (Mimi) of Greensboro, Elizabeth Mosley (Keith) of Rocky Mount, Brenda Yates (Greg) and Chris Strandberg (Sara), both of Greensboro; brother, Buck Young (Evelyn) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Jace Strandberg, Kathleen Welte, Penn and Julia Strandberg, Matt, Mark and Harrison Mosley, Jonathan, Allie and Ashley Yates and Colton Strandberg; great granddaughter, HalleAnn Mosley.
