Obituary: George R. Stoner, 72, of Sanford died 11, 2011 after a valiant fight with cancer. He was born 19, 1938 in Latrobe, PA to John Clay and Margaret Burkholder Stoner. George was a steelworker in Pennsylvania before relocating to the Apex area in 1979. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son Richard D. Stoner in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carolyn Rollins Stoner; sons, Michael C. Stoner of Sanford and Curtis W. Stoner and his wife Cheryl of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held , 15, 2011 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Apex , 550 W. Williams St (Hwy 55), Apex, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Apex with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stoner Family to help with funeral expenses. |

Obituary: Opal Speas Stoneman, age 91, of Winston Salem passed away on 7, 2017. Opal was born 13, 1926 to Herman Grady Speas and Sudie Blanch Posey Speas. She grew up in the Old Town community of W-S and graduated from Old Town School. Opal retired from the W-S Forsyth School System after 22 years in food services. She then helped operate Stoneman Realty and Services with her husband. She was a former member of the Extension Club and was an avid baker. She was a long time member of Becks Baptist Church where she held many positions over the years including assisting the children in Training Union, WMU member, Records secretary, and Outreach leader in her School Class. Opal was passionate about her pets and grand dogs. Opal loved roses and kept a beautiful rose garden. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her sisters, Lila Disher, Ruth Chandler Huffman, Lois Fulcher, and brother, James Speas, and her husband of 56 years, James Newell Stoneman. Opal is survived by 2 daughters, Jamie Castlebury and husband Fleming of Winston Salem and Jewel Dick and husband Andy Dick of a, GA, and a granddaughter, Angela Dick. The family will receive friends on , 10 from 1 to 2pm at Becks Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Dr. Ricky Speas and Dr. Karl Minor officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Offering c/o Becks Baptist Church, 5505 Becks Church Rd, WS, NC 27106, The Gideons International, PO Box 25263, WS, NC 27114-5263, or the Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Rd, WS, NC 27104.
