Obituary: Clifton William Bill Stoffregen, Jr., 79, died at his Raleigh home on 15, 2015. Bill was born on 22, 1936 in Richmond, VA and grew up in Raleigh, N.C. A graduate of Millbrook High School, he attended N.C. State and shortly afterwards married his sweetheart, Peggy Jean Hall, a Rex Hospital nursing student. Bill worked for the Wake Department of Forestry for eleven years after his marriage to Peggy ad then decided to make his hobby of growing plants his full time career. He founded wood Nursery in 1967 at what was then, primarily a wholesale greenhouse operation. Through the years, he helped lead the business into a destination retail shopping experience. He was known for his expertise as a grower of poinsettias, people continue coming to see the vast array of poinsettias that wood grows each year. Having a heart for missions, Bill has served on many overseas trips throughout the years. Most recently, he assisted with the Neem Tree Project in Mauritania, West Africa. Bill was instrumental in helping the people there to use this valuable tree crop to strengthen their economy and to help ease the burden of their day to day lives. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Hall Stoffregen, and his son and daughter in law, Joe and Myra Leigh; grandchildren: Olivia, Sam, and John Stoffregen all of Raleigh, N.C. Bill is preceded in death by his sons; William Glenn Stoffregen and David Lindsay Stoffregen and by his parents, Clifton William Stoffregen, Sr. and Lindsay Stokes Stoffregen. Memorial made be made in Bills memory to Crossroads Fellowship, 2731 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, N.C. 27607. On the memo line please designate Missions Department. The family will receive family and friends on , 17, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Brown-Wynne , 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. Raleigh. A Celebration of his life will be held on , 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossroads Fellowship, 2731 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh. Burial will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, N.C.
