Obituary: Oscar Stewart, 91, of Catawba went home to be with his Lord and love of his life, Frances on , 25, 2015 at Carolinas Medical in Charlotte. Born 21, 1923 in Iredell , he was the son of the late Thomas Leander and Ella Moose Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a member of Hudson Chapel Baptist Church of Catawba. Oscar was a man of great passion and love, being raised during the depression era he understood hard work. Oscar always had a giving heart to those in need. Oscar loved people and never met a stranger, but his greatest passion was his family. Oscar was blessed with the most beautiful lady that he ever met and spent a wonderful 65 inseparable years together. Oscar and Frances started courting on a bicycle and he would ride over 17 miles to see his beloved Frances. Oscar still has that bicycle today and cherished the wonderful times he had on his bike. He was blessed with 4 wonderful daughters that surrounded him with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oscar enjoyed gardening with a push plow and did so by the signs of the moon which was a family tradition. Planting year round he loved sharing the fruits of his garden. God blessed Oscar with the ability to garden even at age 91. Oscar and his family loved the Outer banks, spending time there and fishing brought him so much happiness. Oscar loved to hunt and would build and set rabbit gums like no other. At 17 while his brother was being drafted he felt the need to give to his country as well. He enlisted in a CCC camp in Modena, Utah to help support his family financially; he also worked in a shipyard in Baltimore, Md. Oscar retired after 40 years of work with Clyde Fabrics in Newton, NC. Oscar has left his family with a wonderful heritage and beautiful memories and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Frances Pope Stewart; brothers, Fred, Alvin, John and Paul Stewart; sisters, Mary Pauline Stewart, Margaret Hooks and Marjorie Jean Landaeta. Left to cherish his life and memories are his daughters Ruby Clawson and husband Willard of Newton, Jewell Mabery and husband Sam of Newton, Joyce Davis and husband Ronny of Catawba, Barbara Deal and husband David of Catawba; grandchildren Fran Ballengee and husband Aaron, Amy Mabery, Sam Mabery and wife Laurel, Jessica Parsons and husband Randy, David Deal and wife Pye, Jennifer Isenhour and husband, Jamie, and Ronny Davis Jr; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Ada Morrison and Dolly Hedrick of Statesville, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held on 3pm , 30, 2015 at Hudson Chapel Baptist Church, Catawba, NC. Dr. Frank Bentley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. on at the church. Pallbearers serving the family will be Jamie Isenhour, Randy Parsons, Sam Mabery, Gary James Sr., Brad Clements, Anthony Haskett, David Deal, and Gary James Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hudson Chapel Baptist Church, PO Box 6, Catawba, NC 28609.x great grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Ada Morrison and Dolly Hedrick of Statesville, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews. Newton, NC. Obituary: under the direction of Hanes LinNorman Lee Stewart Mr. Norman Lee Stewart, 77, passed away at home very peacefully with his loving family at his side on 23, 2010. A Celebration of his Life will be held on , 1:00 pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Glen Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. Mr. Stewart was born in Jacksonville, FL, on 14, 1933 to Hinton Smith Stewart and Helen Macomber Stewart. He served his country in the US Navy. Mr. Stewart was a life-long learner and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida. His business career incorporated many positions with Burlington Industries including Assistant to Vice-President. He also directed the Internal Auditing Department of Novant for Forsyth Medical in Winston-Salem as well as Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital until his retirement. Norman lived life to the fullest. He was a boating and ski enthusiast in his earlier years and loved the outdoors. He cherished dancing with his wife. Sports were a passion, especially UNC-Chapel Hill events. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending glorious fall afternoons in Keenan Stadium with his grandchildren and friends. A man of honesty, integrity and fairness, he faithfully taught his children and grandchildren to respect and embrace these qualities He adored his grandchildren and celebrated their accomplishments. Norman dearly loved his wife Ann, there was nothing he wouldn do for her. His family was the center of his life and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Norman was active for many years with the Masons and a very giving man. As always, he was brave and faced his fate with courage. He will be sorely missed by all. .Norman was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Dannah Mootassem. Surviving are his loving wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Ann Stewart of the home; children; Marty Mathews and wife Sandra and Kimberly Mathews Stanley and husband Dale, all of Greensboro, Melody Mathews Fagan and husband Sam of Charlotte, Norman Lee Stewart Jr. and wife Barbara of Auburndale, FL, Linda Stewart Coleman and husband Chris of Ocala, FL, Scott T. Stewart and wife Judy of Tallahassee, FL, Stephanie Diaz of Lakeland, FL; sister, Nancy Veacey and husband Hugh of Lake Placid, FL; grandchildren, Darris Mathews, Brittany Mathews, Munib Mootassem, Laya Fagan, Henry Fagan, Sammy Fagan and Zac Fagan, and devoted pet Casper. The family wishes to thank all the many nurses of Wesley Long Hospital, Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery, and Hospice who cared for Mr. Stewart during his illness, and including all the friends and extended family members for their prayers and support. A special thank you to Norma Bennett and Dawn Watkins of Hospice, Georgeanne and Paul Amick, Jerry and Lisa Haire, and Susan Nelson. The family will receive friends on evening from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Obituary: Norbert Henry Stewart, 85, passed away peacefully on , 6, 2014. He was born 5, 1929 in Chicago, IL. He served his country in the US Army for 23 years, receiving numerous awards, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Upon retirement, he served in his top position as a First Sergeant. Norbert also retired from the State of Indiana as Building Engineer. He joined the Boy Scouts in 1942 and was active until his death. He served in the Boy Scouts in all 50 states and in several foreign countries. He was a member of the Eagle Scouts, Order of the Arrow, and held the position of Assistant Scout Master to the District Commissioner. Norbert was very active with Troop 347 in Wake alongside his best friend, the late Carl McLawhorn. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm, , 9, 2014 at L. Harold Poole Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 with visitation to follow from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. A graveside inurnment service with full military honors will be held at 1:00 pm, , 10, 2014 at Bethlehem Baptist Church , 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. He is survived by his wife: Susan Jeffrey Stewart; sons: Dane, Todd and Chad Stewart; daughter: S. Weideman; adopted grandson: Matthew Tooley; sister: Jean S. Bowen; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and scouting friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Virgil and Abbie Stewart; brothers: Edgar, Frankie, and Gene; and a sister: Lauretta. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Boy Scout Troop in memory of Mr. Stewart. |
