Obituary: Betty Joe Flack Steppe, age 85, of Old Fort, NC died , 9, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born 19, 1928 in McDowell , NC to the late Marvin Flack and Bessie Webb Flack. Mrs. Steppe was a lifelong member of Old Fort United Methodist Church and retired from Old Fort Finishing. She enjoyed singing in the Old Fort Community Chorus. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Al Steppe, the song of her life. Surviving Mrs. Steppe are one son, Philip Steppe and wife, Lynne of Old Fort, NC; three grandchildren, Lori Steppe Massey, Jonathan Steppe and Joseph Steppe; and three great-grandchildren, Cody Steppe, Lawson Massey and Linley Massey. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 PM on , 12, 2013 at Oak Grove . A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM, , 12, 2013 at Old Fort United Methodist Church. Flowers are welcome and appreciated or memorials may be made to: Hospice of McDowell - 575 Airport Rd. Marion, NC 28752.
