Obituary: Karen Starrett 1954-2017 Karen Mims Starrett, 63, of Cramerton, passed away on , May 7, 2017 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born in Richmond and was the daughter of the late L. F. Harry Mims and Doris Presswood Mims. Karen was a devoted wife, mother and B.B. all of her life. She had a strong faith in the Lord and she touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her beloved husband Eddie Starrett; their beloved daughter, Sarah Starrett; step-son, Charlie Starrett and wife Kimberly; step-daughter, Faith Glasgow and husband Shawn and their daughter, Pipar; beloved pet Riley. She was a proud and devoted grandmother BB to her cherished grandchildren, Megan, Skyler, Drew and Mason. She is also survived by sisters, Kathy (Robert) McLaughlin and Linda (Dave) Hartgen; other family, Moody Lane, Debbie Mims, Sharon and Richard Baugh, James M. Mims, and her beloved Samoan family and friends. The family would like to give special recognition to the wonderful staff of CaroMont ICU, especially Melody Clary, RN and supportive staff of Robin Johnson House for their kindness and compassion during this time. A special thank you to Pastor Sam Mintz for being so faithful in visiting her during this time. Obituary: HICKORY-Thelma Walker Starr, 94 passed away , , 22, 2016 at Conover and Rehab after a period of declining health. Thelma was born 1, 1921 in Burke to the late Claus and Effie Snipes Walker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George C. Starr; a daughter Diane Starr Thompson ; sisters Louise Branch, Martha Short, Betty Sanford, Dovie Revels and brothers Noah Walker, Sterling Walker, and DC Walker. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Obituary: Stephen Eric Starr, 36 passed away , 14, 2011 at his residence. He was born 22, 1974 in Catawba to Ronald Stephen and Trudy Moss Starr. Stephen graduated from Fred T. Foard High School where he was active in marching band and other ensembles as a leading trumpet player. receiving an associates degree from Catawba Valley Community , he attended Lenoir-Rhyne University where he majored in philosophy and theology and was active in campus ministry and Playmakers. Stephen was nearing completion of a degree in mortuary science at Fayetteville Technical Community at the time of his death. In recent years Stephen sang in the Carolina Moonlighters; traveled to St. Louis, New York, and New Orleans to participate in A Cappella/Barber Shop singing groups; and supported events and programs of Lenoir-Rhyne University. During the two years Stephen lived with his grandfather amidst declining health due to Lou Gehrigs Disease (ALS), he helped organize a major fundraiser for ALS research. Stephens generosity and loving spirit was further displayed by his willingness to provide a home to stray animals. becoming a member of the Catholic Church later in life, he continued to visit worship services in the Lutheran, Episcopalian, Baptist, and other traditions. He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Helen Moss. In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister Connie Starr; and many special relatives and friends. The family will receive friends , 18, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm at Hickory . Services will be held , 19, 2011 at 1:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 4536 Hickory-Lincolnton Highway, Newton 28658 with Pastor Andrew Weisner and Pastor Gene Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at church cemetery. Memorials may be made to ALS Association - Jim Catfish" Hunter Chapter, 1425-113 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.
