Obituary: Kathleen Roche Staniewicz, born 5, 1918, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on 20, 2014. Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, New York to Lily and Martin Roche, and upon their passing when she was 6 months old was lovingly adopted by her mothers sister Catherine and Peter McCabe. She had two brothers, Vincent (Buddy) and Peter, and a surviving sister, Marion Collins Ariemma. She married Michael Richard Staniewicz on 31, 1942, in Beacon, New York. had six children \ Michael (Born 1942), Matthew (born 1945), Mary (born 1946), as well as the surviving Michol (born 1948), Kathleen (born 1956), and Julius (born 1958). Kathleen also enjoyed the love of her 12 grandchildren Michael, Kate, Adrienne, Troy, Leo, Sara, Ali, Andrew, Maureen, Matthew, Scott, and Elizabeth, as well as her 13 great-grandchildren. She attended the St. Francis nursing school in Poughkeepsie, New York, graduating in 1939. In addition to raising a family, she spent a career attending to the most afflicted war veterans on the quadriplegic ward of the Veterans Admininistration hospital at Castle Point, NY, retiring in 1976. She is a decades-long member of the third order of St. Francis, attending to the needy wherever she found herself, which included New York, Hawaii, Florida and North Carolina. A Memorial Mass will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock NC, on 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM Spread love everywhere you go. Obituary: David Stang died on , May 11. will be held on , May 13, 10:30 A.M. at Beth David Synagogue with burial to follow at the Greensboro Hebrew . Dave was born in the Bronx, NY May 4, 1923, the second of 3 children of Morris and Rebecca Stang. As a child of Eastern European immigrants, he embraced the new world with a spirit of resourcefulness and purpose. He graduated from City of NY, served in WWII in Guam, and graduated from Fordham School of Pharmacy. Dave married Myra Lambert in 1946 and had their first child (Michael) in 1949 in the Bronx. In 1951, David and Myra moved to Greensboro with Daves siblings and mother to start Lane Rexall Drug. In the ensuing 7 years, they had 3 more children - Howard, Fred, Paul. Mrs. Maggie Lash helped raise the children and remains an important member of the Stang family. Dave was an avid learner with an analytical mind who had grasp of a wide range of subjects which he would enthusiastically discuss with anyone willing to listen. He was a dedicated father and husband who was known for his integrity and the respect that he had for people from all walks of life. His legacy includes his devotion to the love of his life, Myra, to whom he was married for almost 68 years, who predeceased him 3 weeks ago. He is survived by his sons and their wives: Michael (Eileen), Howard (Jill), Fred (Claire), and Paul (Wendy), his grandchildren Becky, Erik, Hannah, Ethan, Danny, Gabrielle, and Noah, and one great-grandchild, Addison. The family wishes to thank caregivers: Vanessa Barrett, Yvonne Billingsley, Erica Noell, and Anita Wheeler; Doctors Osborne and Fox; and the staff at Friends at Guilford, and the many friends and people in the area who have touched his life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Beth David Synagogue, 804 Winview Drive, Greensboro NC 27410.
