Obituary: Candler – Bernice Blaylock Stamey, 87, passed away peacefully on , 10, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. A native of Haywood , she was the daughter of the late John Pearson and Mary Burnette Blaylock. She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Gary Stamey; two brothers and eight sisters. Bernice was a member of Maple Ridge Baptist Church and attended Ridgeway Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joyce Joe Stamey; two daughters, Regina Smith of Waynesville and Donna White and her husband, Grady, of Clyde; three stepsons, Greg Stamey of Weaverville, Johnny Stamey and Randy Stamey both of Candler; four sisters, Margaret Blaylock of Canton, Cheryl Sanford of Maggie Valley, Bonnie Thompson of Waynesville, and Judy Mashburn of Pisgah Forest; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caregiver, Hilda Walker, 4th floor staff at Haywood Regional Medical , and stead Hospice. services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 13, 2017 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack W. Collins and Reverend Jonathan Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Baptist Church . The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Stamey, 79, of Greensboro, departed from this life on , 16, 2012, at Moses Cone Hospital. services will be held at 2:00 pm , 20, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Rev. Carol Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens . Born in Bolton, NC, to the late Allen and Dollye Simmons, Mrs. Stamey was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Moses Cone Hospital, as a Registered Nurse, after 13 years of employment. Beatrice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved nature, enjoyed traveling, but above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Roy E. Stamey. Those left to cherish her memory included her children, Vicki Stamey of Pleasant Garden, Roy Butch Stamey and his wife Melissa of Ohio, Elizabeth Anne Summers of Browns Summit, and Karen Saferight and her husband Ricky of Liberty; grandchildren, Kenneth Allen Sloan, Bobby Lee Saferight, Jerry Everette Saferight and his wife Crystal and Heather Nicole Sloan; great -grandchildren, Chad, Michelle, McKenzie, Cierra, and Brooklyn. Obituary: Barbara Bobbie Jack Stamey, 62, of Valdese, died 27, 2015 at her residence after a period of declining health. Miss. Stamey was born 9, 1953 in Wake a daughter of the late James Stamey and Roberta Medlin Stamey Nicely. In additional to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-father, Melvin O. Nicely, her step-mother, Deloris Stamey and a nephew Roy Eugene Bubba Stamey. Surviving are her brothers, Melvin Nicely and wife Alice of Valdese, Dennis Stamey and friend, Cindy of Palatka, FL. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Lee and Dana Nicely, Sandra and Tracy Carswell, Peggy and Mark Vines, Ginger Stamey, great-nieces and nephews, Josh and Kayla Castaneda, Janet Spann and fiance Anthony Taylor, Cory Jones, Robert Nicely Cheryl Byers, Dylan and Brooke Burke, Katie and Libby Vines, and great great-nephews, Eli and Link Jones and Anthony Taylor. Services for Barbara Bobbie Jack Stamey will be held at 3:00 P.M. 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Heritage Service, Valdese, with Rev. Bobby Deviney officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. in the New Salem United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, WVA. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Service, Valdese, NC and at other times at the residence of a niece, Peggy Vines, 1103 temple St. SW Valdese.
