Obituary: Ruby C. Spencer, 93, of Hickory, went home to her Heavenly Father on , 23, 2015. She was born 22, 1922 in Catawba to the late Holland Van and Ella Kale Cornelius. She was a long time member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Claremont. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Albert Spencer; brothers, Willis Cornelius, and Max Cornelius; and sisters, Louise Martin, Frances Caldwell, Geneva Hasting and Mary Cornelius. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Wanda Spencer, Sandra Walker and husband John, Linda Spencer, Brenda Short and Rhonda Ross; grandchildren, Jason and Judi Walker, Matt and Sherri Walker, Doug and Lindsay Ross, Patrick and Lisa Ross, and Ryan Short; and special nephew, Eric Ballard and wife, Maria; great grandchildren, Hannah Walker, Adeline Ross, Nolan Ross, Spencer Ross and Shawn Walker; and sisters, Doris Grant and Joanne Stone and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on , 26, 2015 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2400 Balls Creek Rd, Claremont, NC with Rev. Todd Garren officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2400 Balls Creek Rd, Claremont, NC 28610 or The Alzheimers Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209. Obituary: Robert Lee Spencer, 82, of Conover passed away 8, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC. Born 28, 1932 in Catawba , he was the son of the late Harlan Spencer and Mary Katherine Spencer. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Kevin Lee Spencer and Tony Devin Spencer. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Alice; son, Michael Ryan Spencer and wife, Anne of Conover; daughter, Bobbi Spencer Hamby and husband, Rick of Hickory; grandchildren, Lauren Slaughter and husband, Matt of Killeen, TX, Samantha Spencer of Conover, Garrison Hamby of Hickory, Ethan Hamby of Raleigh, Preston Hamby of Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Zander Spencer and Roxxi Slaughter; brother, Ron Spencer of Claremont. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on , 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Conover with Pastor Mickey Moree officiating. Burial will take place at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-2:45. Obituary: Mrs. Rebecca C. Spencer, 70, passed away expectedly , 22, 2014 at the High Point Regional Hospital. Mrs. Spencer was born in Leland, 26, 1944, a daughter of the late James C. Croom and Mary Thomas Croom. She was a homemaker and a member of God’s House of Prayer. Rebecca was preceded in death by a son, Michael Spencer. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Sherman M. Spencer; two sons, Chris Spencer and wife Vicki and Dion Spencer; a brother, James C. Croom; three sisters, Marie Godfrey, Alice Boswell and Lois Jacobs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at God’s House of Prayer, 311 Trindale Rd., Archdale by Pastor Bruno Wolf and Pastor Ronnie Everhart. The family will receive friends following the service.
