Obituary: Anthony P “Tony” Spadafora Born 20th, 1938 to Joseph & Rozena Spadafora. Tony passed away after a short battle with cancer. Educated in Kanawha City Schools, after graduating from Charleston High School in 1956 He went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky in 1961 with a degree in Commerce. Tony spent his life working 29 years in accounting and as part owner of General Window Cleaning. In 1995 Tony and family moved to Wilmington, NC where he worked and retired from Zimmer Management in 2009. Tony was a member of various accounting organizations. Past president of the Charleston West Side Lions Club, member of the America Business Club, and former member of Sacred Heart Cathedral Tony spent the last years of his life visiting with his friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 50 plus years Judy. His son’s Jeremy and Pete, and his grandchildren. A Service to Honor the Life of Mr. Anthony P. “Tony” Spadafora will be held at Bartlett Burdette Cox on , 18, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. with Monsignor Edward Sadie officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. |

Obituary: Mabel Kathleen Farthing Spach, 93, died , 10, 2016, at her home in Winston-Salem surrounded by her loving family. She was born 30, 1922, in Watauga , North Carolina to James B. and Gladys Farthing. She had only happy memories of growing up on a farm in the beautiful North Carolina mountains with five siblings and grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins nearby. School and church were important to her. She was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church and she graduated with honors from Bethel High School and Appalachian State Teachers . While working for the Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore, Maryland during World War II, she met her future husband, Charles K. Spach. married in 1947 and lived in Winston-Salem. Mabels main focus was rearing her three children in a loving home. She volunteered in school classrooms, attended athletic events and piano recitals, and was the best cook in the world. her husbands death in 1981, Mabel decided to go to work. She was an on-call bank teller for 20 years, and at the age of 81 she was still winning speed and efficiency awards. She also volunteered as a docent at Reynolda House and as a helper in the pastors office at her church. She was a charter member of Park Baptist Church. Later she and her family joined First Baptist Church. She was a proud member of the Elizabeth Barnette School Class. She served her church faithfully for over 50 years. Mabel had many interests. She was an avid reader, a lifelong learner, and a world traveler. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and a sister, Thomas Dixon Farthing, Richard Vann Farthing, and Lucy F. McLeod. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Jeanne S. Cox and Ted and Anne S. McHone and Scott, and her son Charles K. Spach, Jr.; by her grandchildren and their spouses, Roy Cox and Misty and Kathleen C. Weathers and Jason; and by her great-grandchildren, Charlie and Will Weathers and Theo Cox. Also surviving are her sisters, Jimmie F. Mast and Peggy F. Mast; her sisters-in-law Frances Spach and Wilma Spach; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mabels life will be held , 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Frank Vogler & Sons , 2951 Reynolda Rd. Dr. Kim Matthews will officiate. Visitation and a reception will follow. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest, NC, 3655 Reed St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107. |
