Obituary: Mrs. Winifred Ann Cates Snider, 84, of Liberty passed away on , 21, 2017 at Clapps Assisted Living in Pleasant Garden. Mrs. Snider taught English and Reading for 30 years in the Davidson and Randolph School Systems. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Sorority and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Womens (UNCG). She enjoyed playing Bridge, traveling and going to horse shows. She was a loving, wife, mother and grandmother who lived life with a courageous spirit. A funeral service will be held on , 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Liberty, officiated by Rev. Eugene Dean and Rev. Sam Lewis; burial will follow in Fairview . The family will receive friends on from 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the church fellowship hall, prior to the service. She was the daughter of the late James Monroe Cates, Jr. and Frances Nowlin Cates and was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold Jones Snider. Surviving is her daughter, Melinda Cole (Rich) of Summerfield; son, Mark Snider (Teressa) of Greensboro; sister, Jackie Cates Smith of Ramseur; grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Andrew, and Addison Snider, Kate and Sarah Cole; and great-grandchildren, Paisley, Smith, Stella and Oliver Snider. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Liberty, PO Box 220, Liberty, NC 27298 or Hospice and Palliative of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405. Obituary: Sally Louise Ray Snider, age 90, passed away at Hospice at High Point. Sally was born in Greenville, SC, 3, 1924, the 5th of eleven children of Thomas Ervin Ray and Ada Edwards Ray. In 1946, she married Julian Snider who passed away in 1974. Sally retired from Western Electric Corporation (AT&T) in 1981. Since then, she spent a great deal of time volunteering and in keeping with her nature, continued to be a loving, caring, giving person. She was a longtime member of Lexington Ave. Baptist Church. Surviving are her son Julian Ray (JR) Snider and his wife Janice of Kernersville, one sister, Josie (Jo) Ray Frazier and her husband Walter Richard Frazier of Randolph, and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, a graveside service will be held at Floral Garden at 1 p.m., led by longtime family friend Mr. Joseph Farabee. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Davis , 976 Phillips Ave., High Point, NC In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Cancer Services of Forsyth , 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Hospice at High Point, 1803 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262 |
