Obituary: On 2, 2015 Andrew (Drew) Weston Slocum succumbed to complications after a long battle with Infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Drew, born 12, 2012, fought like a ock star after being diagnosed 25th, 2013. Drew will always be remembered as an energetic, caring, fun-loving son, grandson, nephew, and friend who lived every second granted to him to the fullest. Drews impact on the world and those around him would be impossible to measure based solely on the two short years he lived. Drew was always at his happiest when spending time with his mommy, daddy and his best canine buddy, Colby Jack. Anyone who ever came in contact with Drew immediately fell in love with his infectious smile, joyful spirit and his outgoing personality. Wes and Mandy will be forever grateful for the love and support from all of the members of Drews Crew who helped with family support, prayers, meals, and fund raising. Drews family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the nurses and doctors at Levine Childrens Hospital in Charlotte; these wonderful people worked diligently on every aspect of caring for the entire Slocum family. Drew is survived by his parents, Wes and Mandy Slocum, his grandparents, Linda Slocum, Ed and Nancy Braswell, and Tom and Janet Bates, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Drews life will be held on afternoon at 2:00 at Forest Hills Church at 7224 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC. The family requests bright colors at the remembrance. A private burial will be held afterwards for the family. He is also survived by two brothers, Jon ( & Kelli) Sloat, Steve (& Carole) Sloat, sister Barbara Cimildoro, daughter, Amanda and her husband Robert Alpert, granddaughter Hannah, daughter Abbie Thoreson and grandson, Graham. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Linda Horan and Susan Dolan and their 3 boys. Phil was a very loving & proud father & grandfather. Phils brothers referred to him as mid-Bro, but most often he was just Full Moon Fil for the monthly full moon parties he would arrange.
