Obituary: Singletary Jr. from Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully, surrounded by wife and sons on evening. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Gray Singletary, his son Jon Singletary and wife Brooke of Raleigh, his son Neal Singletary and wife Ekaterina of Midlothian, VA, his three grandchildren Theo and Chris Singletary and Dawn Singletary, his sister Hattie S. Byrum of Edenton, and his sister-in-law Patsy Gray of Chesapeake, VA. He was proceeded in death by his parents and Leota Singletary of Bladenboro, NC. Born in Bladenboro, NC, enjoyed his many years on he farm in Bladen . graduating from Bladenboro High School, he completed his undergraduate degree at NC State University. Following his service in the US Air Force and departure as a Captain, he returned to NC State University and completed his Masters and PhD degrees. While an Electrical Engineer with Corning Glassworks for 10 years, was named on four patents for developments in optical fiber technology that is still used today. From there he enjoyed 22 years as a Project Manager at Progress Energy before retiring in 1995. In retirement he enjoyed lifelong learning experiences with Encore (now OLLI) at NC State University, traveling and socializing with friends, and spending many wonderful times with his family. A celebration of his life will be held on , 30rd at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church at 99 North Salisbury St. in Raleigh, NC. The family will visit with friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NC State University Friends of the Library (Box 7111, NSCU, Raleigh, NC 27695) or First Baptist Church Capital Campaign (99 N Salisbury St. Raleigh, NC 27603). |

Obituary: Delana Carol Baker, 57, resident of High Point, NC, passed away on 19, 2014. She was born in Clinton , Ohio on 3rd of 1957, the daughter of John Baker and Dorothy Moore Baker Partida. Delana Carol attended the Blanchester Schools in Ohio. She served in the Army Branch of the U.S. Military graduating in the last unit of WAC, "Women's Army Corps". She worked various jobs, some include, security detail and delivering car parts to many places. Before Delana Carol fell ill, she was a hard worker and very independent. Some people will remember her by her amazing cooking skills and others will remember her by her funny and fun demeanor. She was kind and loved to help out when she could. She was a gramma to three grandsons, they were her pride and joy. She loved them so much. She was survived by her one and only child, Jammie Charles Michael Willis and his wife Ashlee Thompson Willis, Walkertown, NC; Three Grandchildren, Zachary Willis, 17 yrs old, Wyatt Willis, 10 yrs old, and Cole Willis, 8 yrs old; Siblings Include, Mark Baker - Seattle, WA, Jim Baker - Austin, IN, Judith Trainer - Mechanicsburg, OH, Angela Baker - Asheboro, NC, Andrea Upchurch - Asheboro, NC, Ida Miller - Blanchester, OH, John Baker - Wilmington, OH, Chris Baker - Cincinnati, OH, Tina Nickol - Cincinnati, OH, Robert Partida - Springfield, OH. She also has many nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends, including, Tiffany Starling and Debra Starling, which is the mother and grandmother to the oldest grandson.
