Obituary: HICKORY-Grover William Setzer, 75, passed away May 11, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical after a brief battle with lung cancer. Grover was born 22, 1935 in Catawba Co. to the late James Alfred and Minnie Herman Setzer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Cruse. Grover worked for Carolina Office equipment 43 years, most of those as service manager. He was instrumental in the companys startup in the late 50s and received many accolades during his employment. He was veteran of the Korean War. As a child, he attended Millers Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed at a young age. Upon marriage, he and his family became members of Highland United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and managed the sound facilities. He was active in all phases of the churchs activities, attending regular services, serving on the Administrative Council and other boards and commissions including for many years service as liaison for the Cooperative Christian Ministry. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Hawn Setzer, sons: William Setzer and Michael Setzer with wife Elizabeth Rich Setzer, granddaughter Rylie Setzer,3, all of Garner, NC., five brothers and four sisters: James Setzer and wife Lou of Knoxville, TN, Thomas Dermont Setzer and partner, Debbie Travis, Lewis Setzer and wife, Lala, Richard Setzer and wife Sherry, Robert Setzer and wife, Gloria, Carrie Setzer West, Annie Setzer Huffman and husband, J. Donald, Ruby Gail Setzer and Martha Jean (Jeannie) Bowman, all of Hickory, a brother-in-law, Phillip (Jinx) Hawn of Marion and his partner Libby Dobson and numerous nieces and nephews. Receiving will be from 5:30 - 7:30 P. M. at Highland United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be at 11:00 A. M. at Highland United Methodist Church, 1020 12th. Street Place, NE, Hickory with the Rev. David Hobson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 1020 12th. St. Pl., NE, Hickory, N. C. 28601. Obituary: Eva Mae Burns Setzer was born on 29, 1926 in Bryson City, NC. On May 28, 2016, she graduated to her heavenly home. Her angel wings carried her to the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was welcomed first by Jesus then her family and friends that had made earlier flights. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roy W. Setzer; and daughters: Evelyn Humble (Dan Huneycutt) of Charlotte, Doris Bandy (Gale) of Sanford, FL, and Selma Inman of Charlotte; and her nephew, Chuck Burns (Pat) of Davidson. Also by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard (Dick) Henry and Jencia Mabelle Parris Burns; her brothers, Frank Harden Burns and Mack Burns; half-brothers Deck, Claude and Sim Burns; half-sister Nettie Hurley; and granddaughter, Crystal Michelle Brown. A visitation will take place , 1 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Forest Lawn West. A funeral service will be held on , 2, 2016 at 11:00am in the Paul Helton Chapel of Forest Lawn West; interment to follow at Greenwood , Belmont, NC.
