Obituary: Concord, NC-Mrs. Nacy Sawyer, 93, of Morningside Living passed away early morning, 13, 2014. Born in Cornelius, NC on 26, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie King Potts. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Mrs. Sawyer was an elementary teacher for many years in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System where she helped educate hundreds and hundreds of children. She was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, NC until her illness overtook her. Nancy was dearly loved by all who knew her and will fondly be remembered as a loving friend. Her husband of 56 years, George L. Sawyer, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hammond and son-in-law, Jerry of Concord, NC; a son, Kenneth M. Sawyer and daughter-in-law, Christine of Santa Fe, NM; a granddaughter, Jennifer Hammond Tracey and her husband, Joseph of Ashburn, VA and three great-grandsons, Sean, Cameron and Logan Tracey. Memorial services are planned for 2:00 pm , 16, 2014 at McEwen Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Friends may visit with the family following the service.
