Obituary: Helen Mooney Satterfield, 98, of Pineville passed away peacefully 5, 2016. She was born 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Dallas Starnes Mooney and Thomas M. Mooney. She is survived by one sister, Bobbie Jean Sanderson and preceded in death by siblings Mabel Archie, Tommie McRae, Johnnie Mae Earnheart, Vivian Christmas, Coley Mooney and Douglas Mooney. Helen was the loving wife of the late Charles R. Satterfield who preceded her in death in a988. were married for 50 years. Although Helen and Charlie never had any children, they loved and were proud of all their nieces and nephews. Helen was employed by Cone Mills Corporation in Pineville from 1946 until 1980. Helen and Charlie were members were members of Stough Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville where they were dedicated and active members for 50 years. both enjoyed traveling and took many trips with church groups. Helen also served at the senior Citizens Hot Lunch program for a number of years. Helen and her sisters Vivian Christmas and Johnnie Mae Earnheart joined the Senior Olympics from 1991-1995. enjoyed their time together and won many medals. A visitation will be held on 11 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte. A service to celebrate the life of Helen Satterfield will be at 11:00 am on 12 at McEwen Pineville Chapel with Rev. Bruce League Officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Obituary: Edgar Spencer Satterfield passed away on 17, 2014. Ed was born to Emery and Blondie Satterfield on 7, 1936 in Robbins, NC. He grew up in Greensboro on South Elm Street. He attended Greensboro High School (now Grimsley). In 1954, he joined the US Air Force because he wanted to fly planes. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary Alice Lewis. were stationed in Arizona, Bermuda, Florida, Illinois and Michigan. He was very proud of his 12 years of service to his country. During this time, Ed helped to train pilots. He worked on the Minuteman Missiles. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Ed was stationed at SAC Headquarters. He left the service in 1966 and returned to Greensboro. He worked several years for Johnson Controls before going full time with H & R Block. 35 years, Ed retired from H & R Block. his retirement, Ed and Mary Alice enjoyed traveling with close friends. He loved to tell folks he had been in every state in the U.S. Ed never met a stranger. He said, are friends I haven met yet. He always had a smile and a joke to make you laugh. He was an avid golfer as long as his health allowed. He loved airplanes and trains. In the early 80s, he was involved in the Greensboro model train club. If there was a good place to eat, Ed knew about it. Ed was a proud servant of God. While stationed in Bermuda, Ed and Mary Alice were instrumental in starting the first Southern Baptist Church in Bermuda. returning to Greensboro, they became very active at Bessemer Baptist Church (now New Bessemer). Ed taught adult School, served as a deacon, the Finance committee and church treasurer. He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Mary Alice Satterfield. His children; Karen Mindy Allred of Danville, VA, Sharen Apple (husband Greg) of Greensboro and Ed Satterfield Jr. (wife Cynthia) of Roundup, MT. His grandchildren, Lance Dunlap, Brandy Dunlap, Joshua Apple (wife Karen), Sara Musick (husband Charles), Rachel Satterfield, Emorie Satterfield, Johanna Satterfield, Edan Satterfield, Jill Lawson and Alicia Klebaum and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Kathleen Satterfield and Robert Oakley, his brother from another mother.
