Obituary: Marsha Saperstein of Charlotte passed away on 24, 2014. She was born 16, 1936 in the Bronx, NY to Beatrice and Sam Halem. Marsha married her childhood sweetheart, Joel Saperstein in 1956, one week after he returned from serving in the U.S. Army. She entered the workforce after moving to Charlotte in 1977 \ first as a bookkeeper, then as an accountant and later as a controller. Marsha retired at the age of 72. She was a lady in every sense of the word. She loved her family; she loved her friends and she loved to laugh. Marsha will always be remembered with a smile on her face. She was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother. Marshas life is being celebrated by her family; her loving husband of 58 years, Joel Saperstein; son, Scott Saperstein and his wife Elissa and their son, Larry; son, Glenn Saperstein; son, Dean Saperstein and daughter, Shelli Hartsell and her husband, James. Her dream was to educate each child, send them to college, give them a car and a bank account. She accomplished it all. Obituary: Neena Chimos Saparilas, 77, of Raleigh passed away on , 1, 2016, at her home after a long illness. She was born on 9, 1938; she was a native and lifelong resident of Raleigh. She was the daughter of the late John P. Chimos and Bessie C. Chimos. graduating from Broughton High School in 1956, she continued her education at Kings Business . college, she worked as a dance instructor at Arthur Murrays Dance Studio, as well as several retail stores in Raleigh such as Mac Josephs, Miller & Rhodes, Mother and Daughter and Hudson Belk. Although her jobs were important to her, the primary focus and greatest love of her life was her church, family and friends. She was a life-long member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. She was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, which is the churchs philanthropic group. Throughout her life, Neena lived her life with resiliency and a love for life. She faced her obstacles with grace and dignity and with an abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She could light up a room with her joyous personality and radiant smile. She was an amazing mother and grandmother to her boys and grandchildren. Anyone who knew her knew she could make friends with anyone and was a kind, and loving person to all she met. Neena was blessed to have so many loyal life-long friends to share the wonderful memories and experiences with over the years. Neenas was always the person to get everyone together for dinners and other social events. Although she had many health challenges, she always remained focused on her family, her faith and her friends. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gus N. Saparilas of Raleigh; son, Nick Saparilas and daughter- in- law Elisabeth of Raleigh; son, John W. Saparilas of Knightdale and daughter-in-law Laura of Knightdale; grandson, Nicholas D. Saparilas; granddaughter Anna Claire Saparilas; brother, Peter J. Chimos and sister-in-law Sue C. Chimos of Tucson, AZ; nephews, John H. Chimos, Kenneth E. Chimos and wife Lindsey; and niece Christina C. Erickson and husband Tony. She is also survived by her great- nephews, Jake and Dylan Erickson and Henry P. Chimos, all of Tucson, AZ. A visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 5000 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh on , 6, 2016 from 6-8, with a Trisagion prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on , 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity. Obituary: Gus Nicholas Saparilas, 86, of Raleigh passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends on , 7, 2016. He was born on 10, 1929; he was a native and lifelong resident of Raleigh. He grew up on West Martin Street above the "Hollywood Cafe", which was owned and operated by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Neena Saparilas, father Nick Saparilas, and mother Timothea Saparilas, and brothers, Andrew and Chris Saparilas. Gus attended Cathedral Latin High School where he lettered and had a stellar football career - being named to their All Century Football team in 2009. graduating high school in 1947, he attended N.C. State . He was a proud veteran serving in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in San Francisco and Thule, Greenland. serving in the Air Force, Gus began a long and distinguished 30 year career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation as an engineer. retiring with Department of Transportation, he worked for Kimley-Horn Engineers and Thompson Gordon and Shook (TGS) Engineering until 2005. Throughout his life, Gus was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. Gus put others first and was steadfast in his love and service to his family, friends and his church. He gave his time and talents wherever needed; from playing on the church softball team to working behind the scenes at the Greek Festival. Gus was always there to serve others, especially being the devoted caregiver to his beloved wife Neena, of 55 years. He is survived by his sons, Nick Saparilas of Raleigh and son, John Saparilas of Knightdale and daughter-in-law Laura of Knightdale; daughter- in- law Elisabeth of Raleigh; grandson, Nicholas D. Saparilas; granddaughter Anna Claire Saparilas; brother-in-law, Peter Chimos and sister-in-law Sue Chimos of Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces , nephews and cousins, whom he loved very much.
