Obituary: Walter W. Stroyek , 89, of Papillion died , 23rd, 2016 at Prairie Meadows Special Alzheimers in Omaha, Nebraska. Walter was born on 9, 1926 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Michael and Anna (Nerka) Stroyek. He moved with his family to Edson, Kansas, at age 4 after his mother remarried Thomas Bindyk following his fathers death. He worked on the family farm full-time after attending only a ½ year of high school. Walter was very proud to serve (at the age of 18) in the US Army during World War II from 1944 through 1946. Part of his service was during the Occupation of Japan. the army, he returned to farming with his brother John. Walter married Nadyne Scofield on May 3, 1949. Together, they continued to farm into the early 1960s. Walter and Nadyne ventured to many communities (McCook, Gering, Hastings, Blair and Fort Morgan, Colorado) as a plumber/pipefitter before settling in Papillion where he retired from The Waldinger Corporation. Walter was an avid fisherman and lure maker. He always found time to take his family fishing at nearby lakes. He loved the Huskers and the Denver Bronco's and not so much the Pittsburgh Steelers with Terry Bradshaw. Walter and Nadyne loved to travel and visit their siblings. He had a wonderful sense of humor that made many people he visited laugh and smile. Walter leaves behind many loved ones including his wife, Nadyne, of 66 years along with seven children: Bonnie Bennett of Papillion, Linda (LeRoy) Myers of Lincoln, Michael (Mitzi) of Hastings, Russell (Gena) of Papillion, Steven of Omaha, Christopher (Donna) of Omaha, and Patrick (Diane) of Denver, Colorado; 10 Grandchildren: Sonny Jackson, Ann (Jackson) Kraus; Eric Myers; Jeff and Jason Stroyek; Ashley (Stroyek) Russell and Bryan Stroyek; Megan and Bryce Stroyek; and Brandon Stroyek; 18 Great-Grandchildren: DeVante and Justice Jackson; Courtney, Adrienne and William Kraus; Maxwell and Olivia Myers; Jinjer and Jeorgia Stroyek; Shaylee, Keaton, Karter and Karson Stroyek; Nathan and Brooklyn Russell; Charlie and Caroline Stroyek and Great-Great Granddaughter, Autumn Krause. Walter is also survived by his brother John Stroyek of Goodland, Kansas; Brothers and Sisters-In-Law and many very special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father and siblings Mary Scheopner, Stella Cebula, Bernice Erickson and Eddie Stroyek. A private family service will be held at St. Columbkille with a Celebration of Life and burial service at the Omaha National occurring at a later date. Memorial gifts can be made to Knights of Columbus, Council #6429 and mailed to Nadyne Stroyek - 801 N. Adams Street - Papillion, NE 68046.
