Obituary: Clinton Kennedy "Ken" Sample, 71, passed away , 11. 2014. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 11:00am , 14, 2014, with visitation starting at 10am.

Ken was born 27, 1943, in Jackson, TN to Clinton Kennedy Sample Sr. and Betty Wade Sample. He graduated from Murrah High and earned a BS Degree in Business from MS State. serving 4 years in the Navy as a corpsman, he joined Xerox as a salesman and retired as an Executive Manager after 31 years. He and Karen married 11, 1970 and joined Christ UMC in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Karen D. Sample; sons, Clinton Kennedy "C.K." (Kristin) Sample III and Kevin L. (Marie) Sample; grandchildren, Jackson Darcy, Emmett, and Elena Sample; sisters, Mary Frances Staton and Patricia (Jim) Bendall; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Obituary: Charlotte Ezell Salter, 89, of Jackson, died 9, 2012 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical . Visitation will be held on beginning at 1:00 PM followed by services at 3:00 PM all at Wright and Ferguson in Ridgeland.

A native of Louisville, MS, Charlotte was born 7, 1922, the daughter of Joe Brooks and Katherine Gay Ezell. She graduated Valedictorian of Louisville High School in 1939.

Charlotte met the love of her life, her husband Cary, while attending MSCW. were married 18, 1944. During the war she served as safety supervisor in a munitions plant at Prairie, MS. the war she taught school before following her husband to The University of Mississippi where she received her masters degree in special education. graduation, they moved to Shaw, MS where they purchased a pharmacy and began a family. moved to Jackson in 1961 where she lovingly took care of her home and her two daughters.

With an empty nest, she went back to work. First, for the Mississippi State Pharmacy Association and then in many other positions including proof reading for the Mississippi legislature. She was a faithful Christian and an active member of First Baptist Church for many years serving as school teacher and volunteering in the church office until her retirement. A bright and active person, she was always involved in the community and enjoyed participating in activities with groups like Mended Hearts, WMU Circle and Concordia Bridge Club. Her vibrant spirit and never-give-up attitude far outweighed her diminutive stature.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Laura Sue Lofton.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cary W. Salter, Jr. of Jackson; her two daughters, Florence Gay Salter of Jackson and Katherine (Kay) Kaigler Salter of Hattiesburg; one sister, Jo Evelyn Fox of Louisville, MS; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Obituary: Cary Weathersby Salter, Jr., 93, our hero, passed away peacefully , 4, 2015 at his home in Jackson, Mississippi. Cary, the son of Dr. Cary W. Salter and Medora Lenow Salter, was born 4, 1921, in McLeod, MS and was raised in Macon, MS where he thrived, as all boys do, on flying, hunting, and fishing. In 1938, Cary was graduated from Macon High School and began his college education and flight training at Mississippi State University. for a weekend, he met the love of his life, Charlotte Ezell. He also studied at Vanderbilt University and East Central Community which he fondly referred to as "Scooba U" after the town in which it was located before beginning his service in the U.S. Army Air Force. Cary served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII as a fighter pilot. numerous stateside duties during the war he joined the 354th Fighter Group, "The Pioneer Mustang Group" in Europe where he flew over 50 combat missions and is credited with 2.5 aerial victories. Cary flew the P-51 Mustang in combat and named his aircraft "Charlotte's Chariot II" after his beloved wife Charlotte. Due to his abilities in aerial combat Cary was awarded the Silver Star and the Air Medal with eight oak leaf clusters for his service. Cary was honored to serve his country, and after the war he joined the Air Force Reserve serving for over 20 years retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He always enjoyed sharing his adventures at every opportunity. the war Cary returned to Mississippi where he graduated from pharmacy school at The University of Mississippi. In his early career, Cary worked in many capacities in the pharmaceutical industry beginning with running his one man pharmacy in Shaw, MS. Cary, one of the original founders of Mississippi Drug , Inc. a wholesale drug supplier, served as President until he retired. In of 1999 he was elected as Honorary President of the Mississippi Pharmaceutical Association. He was awarded the Bowl of Hygeia. Cary remained an active pilot for most of his life and a lifetime member of the Quiet Birdmen and the Military Order of World Wars. He was active in his School Class, "Fishers of Men," at First Baptist Church where he at one time served as Deacon. Cary was a participating Civitan member for over 60 years and enjoyed his fellowship with the Walter Scott Coffee Club Group. Cary truly loved five things in his life: the Lord, his family, airplanes, his church and helping his many friends. He had a joyous love of life and a real zest for living, he had fun his whole life.Cary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlotte Ezell; one daughter, Katherine (Kay) Kaigler Salter; and one sister, Betty Salter Emerson. He is survived by his daughter, Florence Gay Salter of Jackson; a brother, John A Salter of Jackson; and a sister, Medora (Sugar) Salter Weaver of Ridgeland; as well a son-in-law; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway on Highland Colony Parkway with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel on , 10, 2015 and the burial on the grounds following the service.The family request memorials in lieu of flowers, be made to "The Southern Heritage Air Foundation" or "The Warrior Bonfire Project" either of which may be sent to P.O.
