Obituary: Schoen, Mary E. (DeMuth) Was called home by our Heavenly Father on 9, 2015. She was born 30, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of John F. and Bernice (Featherstone) DeMuth. On 12, 2014 Mary learned she had bladder cancer. Surgery was performed and Mary began her courageous battle of this last year. Her strength during her journey was amazing as she fought valiantly until the end. Mary graduated from Edison High School. Following graduation, Mary worked at Prudential Life Insurance . On 8th, 1955, Mary married her high school sweetheart, Jerald J. Schoen and they settled in Minneapolis. By 1967, Mary and Jerry were blessed with five children, with a sixth on the way, necessitating a move to New Hope. There they raised their six children until retirement. Mary was a dedicated, proud, selfless mother. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of her life. She was incredibility proud of each and every one of them. In 1988, Mary and Jerry began to winter in Arizona, where they would golf and spend time with their oldest daughter and granddaughter. Mary continued this tradition until her passing. She participated in golf leagues both in Minnesota and Arizona. Mary maintained lifelong friendships with her high school girlfriends (The Magnificent Seven) often traveling with them. She loved traveling to new exciting places throughout the world and did so yearly prior to her diagnosis. Mary was independent and active, playing cards and lunching with her many friends right up until the end. She loved to dance and spoke of wanting to dance during her final days. She valued the friendships established during her lifetime and recently remarked "how lucky she was to have such special friends." In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by Jerry (husband), Faye (sister), Ellen and Ed (in-laws), Tom and Donald (brothers-in-law). Mary is survived by her children, Kathy (Mark), Karen, Wendy, Paul (Barb), Steve (Shelly) and Chris; twelve grandchildren and four great-grand-children; brother, Dennis (Jean) and many nieces and nephews. Mary's life will be celebrated on , 13, 2015 at Saint Alphonsus Church located at 7025 Halifax Avenue North, Brooklyn . Visitation 9:30 - 11:00 AM, with service to follow. Private Burial. Obituary: John N. Schoen, 95 John N. Schoen lifelong resident of the Owatonna and Medford areas died May 30, 2014 at stead Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11:00 am , 3, 2014 at Christ the King Church in Medford. Friends may greet the family on , 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Brick – Meger (1603 – Austin Road, Owatonna) and one hour before the funeral mass at Christ the King Church in Medford. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on at the funeral home. With the passing, Dr. John N. Schoen is the last of a pioneer Owatonna family dating back to 1862. Born John Nicholas Schoen on 13, 1918 the son of John N. and Christine (Bollenbeck) Schoen. Dr. John graduated from Owatonna High School in 1935 where he was one of the first 17 members of the National Honor Society at OHS. John attended Northern Illinois of Optometry receiving is degree in 1939. He practiced Optometry in Owatonna for 50 years retiring in 1989. Dr. Schoen was a member of the Rotary Club of Owatonna since 1941, Owatonna Elks, Life member of the Medford Knights of Columbus and was named to the Kof C Hall of Fame in 2002, Mrsg. Henry Speck Assembly in Owatonna, served on the board of y Seniors, past district president of SPEBSQSA (a barber shop quartet) served for 17 years on the Airport Commission. Music and aviation were Dr. Johns prime interests. He was one of the original 12 members of the Owatonna Community Band, spokesperson for the Golden Tones Chorus. He was the first president of the Morehouse Dam Preservation Corporation. Dr. Schoen will be remembered for his many humanitarian missions trips to provide optometry services the less fortunate in the Caribbean, Central America, South American and the Indian mission in the northern United States. John is survived by one son Charles (Birgitta) Schoen of Wayzata and Laguna Beach. One granddaughter Vanja (Mark) Maloney and one great-grandson Patrick Maloney. He is preceded in death by his wife Helen, one son John N. Schoen III. Memorials are preferred to the Morehouse Dam Preservation Corp. or the donors choice. |

Obituary: LIFE HISTORY FOR LAVAUN VONNIE SCHOECK LaVaun Alice Good Schoeck was born to Rex and Sevilla (Belken) Good in Olivia, MN on May 29, 1930. She was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical United Brethern Church in Danube, MN. She graduated from Danube High School. On 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to Jake Schoeck. lived in Danube for a short time before making their home in Renville. were blessed with six sons. During this time LaVaun helped with the family business, was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, teaching School, Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir and helping with the Ladies Aide, in addition to caring for her own children. The Schoecks then moved to Eden Prairie for three years before settling in Osakis in 1971. In 1975 LaVaun was hired by the Osakis Public School as a Teachers Aide. She worked at the school for the next twenty-two years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the local P.E.O. and also served as a hospice and nursing home volunteer. As a member at Osakis Lutheran Church, LaVaun again offered her talents by helping as a member of the Befrienders program, the sewing group and the Ladies Aide. She also served as a church deacon. LaVaun had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends. She was an avid Bridge player and also enjoyed quilting, specializing in beautiful table runners and pot holders that she gifted to many family and friends. She was an excellent cook, well known for her delicious potato salad and an endless supply of cookies. She loved to travel, garden, and was a loyal Twins baseball fan. She enjoyed many hours as a fan following her children and grandchildrens various events. Her family was very important to her and she was happiest when they could all gather together for holidays and special events. LaVaun entered her eternal life on , 23, 2015 from her home in Osakis, MN, at the age of 84 years, surrounded by her family. She was a kind, generous, and caring mother, grandma, sister, aunt, who will be dearly missed and lovingly, remembered by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched. Special thanks to the Knute-Nelson Hospice for their tender care. Left to mourn her passing are her six sons, David (Sharol) Schoeck of Hines, MN, Dan Schoeck of Hammond, WI, Craig (Ronnah) Schoeck of Osakis, Todd (Kim) Schoeck of Walker, MN; Tim (Julie) Schoeck of Osakis and Russ (Janine) Schoeck of Benedict, MN; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; brother, Larry (Ethel) Good of Mora, MN; sister, Gloria (Dean) Ohland of Litchfield, MN; sister-in-law, Elsie (Don) Kleman of Remer, MN; and daughter-in-law, Jill Schoeck of Hudson, WI; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jake (1992), her parents, a granddaughter, Breanna Schoeck-Becthold [Todd] (2010); brothers, Gilbert, Rodney and Archie Good. services for LaVaun will be held on , 27, 2015 at 11:30 am with visitiation two hours prior at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Fitzer officiating. Musicians include organist, Pat Converse and soloists, Laryssa Schoeck and Tara Reichmann, Donelle and Gary Kortemeier, with a special verse of Jesus Loves Me sung by her great grandchildren. The eulogy will be given by Charlie Schoeck, Maria Swanke (grandchildren) and Mike Good (nephew). Honorary pallbearers are her PEO sisters and her granddaughters, Kayla Schoeck [Dan], Sara Otto, Stacia Johanson, Amy Weisser [Craig], Laryssa Schoeck [Todd], Maria Swanke and Kali Schoeck [Tim].
