Obituary: Michael John Szpulak, Sr., age 96, died , 26, 2014 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. Mr. Szpulak was born May 25, 1918 in his native land of Poland. Mr. Szpulak served in the Polish Army before coming to the United States. Although Michael had lived in the United States for many years, Poland always held a special place in his heart. He would stay true to his Polish heritage his entire life, and enjoyed the many years he spent living in Hamtramck. Mr. Szpulaks sons remember him fondly as a loving father. Along with being a great mentor and role model for his boys, Michael also worked hard as a crane operator in the steel industry for many years. Mr. Szpulak was the husband of the late Bernice who preceded him in death in 1972. He was the father of Michael John Szpulak Jr and Walter Szpulak. The loving grandfather of Michael John Szpulak III, Eliza Stepien, and great-grandfather of Brayden. Visitation for Michael will be held on , 28th from 3-7pm, with a 6pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Mr. Szpulak will lie in state , 29th from 9:30 am until time of the Mass at 10:00 am at St. Florian Catholic Church, 2626 Poland Street in Hamtramck. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet in Detroit.
