Obituary: David Carl Stowe of Lake Ann passed away on 7, 2014 at his home. Dave was born on 12, 1962, in Traverse City, the son of Larry and Ila (Skiver) Stowe. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1981. Dave was a hard worker who excelled at every job he attempted. He was a very creative man who would always come up with a new way to tackle any task. He married the love of his life and best friend of 35 years, Brenda Roelofs, on 28, 1984. had just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Daves passion in life was his wife and family. He adored his daughters, grandson and granddaughter on the way. He loved tinkering around in his garage and yard, fishing, hunting, and his dogs. He had a witty nature and always had those around him in laughter. Dave was a giver and was always concerned about everyone around him. In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his daughters, Alyssa (Matthew) Knust and Ashley (Daniel) Westover; grandchildren, Mason Knust and Baby Girl Westover (on the way); as well as his parents Larry (Ila) Stowe; sisters, Sandra (Dale) Roelofs, Annette (Mark) Counsell, twin brother, Daniel Stowe, and sister-in-law, Diane (Don) Breen; along with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on , , 17, 2014 at 11 am at Covell in Traverse City with visitation starting at 10am. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jim Petteys. Obituary: Alice Mae Buskirk Stowe, age 97, of Ithaca, Michigan died , 13, 2014 at Arbor Grove Assisted Living, Alma, MI. Services will be held at Smith Family s Ithaca, MI on , 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor John Hagerman officiating. Burial will take place at Ferris , Vestaburg, Michigan. Visitation will be held on , 16, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Alice was born in Stanton, Michigan on 9, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Mae (Bailey) Baker. She graduated from Crystal High School with the class 1934; she then attended Normal and graduated from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree. On 26, 1939 Alice married Luther Buskirk in Kentucky; Luther died in of 1984. On 26, 1998 she married Edwin Stowe in Ithaca, Michigan; Edwin died 10, 2014. She was a public school teacher for more than 40 years retiring from the Carson City Crystal Public Schools in 1980. Alice enjoyed traveling and had traveled to many countries. She was an avid reader and enjoyed square dancing. She resided most of her life in Crystal, Michigan moving to Ithaca in the 1980s. Alice attended New Haven Church of God, Sumner, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis and Larry Stoner of Ithaca, MI, son, Michael and Karen Buskirk of Stanton, MI, 3 step sons; Curtis and Julie Stowe of Walled Lake, MI, Timothy and Lori Stowe of Novi, MI, Andy and Barb Stowe of St. Johns, MI, 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, and 5 sisters. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the New Haven Church of God or the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Obituary: Catherine Stitt Stow Lansing, MI Age 98; born 27, 1915; passed away peacefully on 6, 2014. Catherine was born in Bellaire, MI, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Coates) Stitt. In 1937 she married Gordon H. Stow, who preceded her in death in 2007. A member of Plymouth Congregational Church for 76 years, Catherine served on various boards and committees and was very active in the Womens Fellowship and Mayflower Circle. She was active in P.E.O. and a lifetime member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association and the American Association of University Women. She graduated from the University of Michigan with bachelor's degrees in both Library Science and English. Catherine and Gordon traveled in Europe, Japan, South America, Scandinavia, and most of the fifty states. Surviving are daughters Ann (Ira) Purchis of Lansing, MI, Mary Jane Kibby of Worthington, OH, and Jean (Shane) Bolley of Bath, MI; son Robert (Ruth) Stow of Traverse City, MI; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Ruth (late Richard) Sell; brother-in-law Richard (Donnah) Stow; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother A. Clyde Stitt, sister Ida Mae Stitt and sister-in-law Lucile (Vernon) Peterson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on , 12, 2014 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 2001 E. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends for visitation on , 11, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman s, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. Obituary: Linville Gene Stover, 89, passed away on 17, 2014, with his daughter by his side, at his home in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. Gene was born in West Virginia, to parents Mary and Clayton. He was one of five children. He left home at age 17 and eventually joined the U.S. Navy at age 18. Gene spent over 2 years serving his country as a coxswain onboard the USS Helm. his honorable discharge from the Navy in 1945 he moved to Detroit. He soon met Adell Tex Andry and married in l953. For many years, he worked two and three jobs including Chrysler, bar-tending, and gas station attendant. In l960, Gene and Tex purchased a little-known store on Kercheval Avenue in Grosse Pointe Farms and it became, Genes Club Party Store. Gene nurtured a beautiful business that served the community for many years. He and Tex cared for and enjoyed each and every one of their customers. He was a gentleman, a legend, that served adults and children alike, with the same respect and care. No sale was too small. He many times remarked that penny candy paid his bills. In l986, Gene retired and the store is now under the caring ownership of Jerry Stocking, as Jerrys Party Store. Gene enjoyed golfing and bowling with the mens club in Grosse Pointe. Through out his bowling career, he was known to throw many 300 score games. He was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was proud to share his talent with his family and friends. Gene was the dear father of Lindell (Robert) Blaich, who was always referred to as his doll. He was the loving grandfather to Megan and Bonnie. His girls were his pride and joy. Gene was especially proud of his nephew Mike Church (Val), and his niece, Jane Church. He was also the beloved brother of Ora Dierick. Gene was blessed with a wonderful and true friend, Jerry Smale. Gene is predeceased by his loving wife and partner, Adell, his son, William, and his siblings, Zela, Freeman, and Virginia. A memorial service is planned for , 24, 2015 at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church; 157 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. Visitation with the family begins 11:30 and the service will be at noon. |
