Obituary: Thomas E. "Tom" Sprague, Sr. \ Of Jackson, MI passed away on 21, 2014 at the age of 74. Thomas was born to parents George and Helen (Laberdie) Sprague on 29, 1939. Tom raced stock cars and harness horses. He was a coach for Southwest Little League for his children and womens softball for his wife, children, sister-in-law, several nieces, and cousins. He was so much more than a coach to all his players. Tom retired from Clark Equipment . He is survived by his wife, Darlene Sprague; children, Rita (Ben) Lockwood, Diane Sprague, Cindy (Jim) Chrisman, Shelly Sprague, Tom Sprague, Jr., and Connie (George) Husak; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two siblings, and several grand dogs. Obituary: Suzanne R. Sprague Grosse Pointe Farms resident Suzanne R. Sprague died peacefully , Aug. 9, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She died as a result of Parkinsons disease, which she battled more than 14 years. She was a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother and sister and is survived by her husband, Dr. Henry Hezekiah Sprague; children, Patricia Sisca (Philip), William Boydell, David Boydell (Kelly), Robert Boydell (Diane), Hal Sprague and Julian Sprague (Betsy); grandchildren, Lauren, Erin, William, Kerri, Sara, Jamie, Jack, Grant, Eliza, Sam and Emily and sister, Nancy Gee. Suzanne was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Detroit, to Loraine and Sherwood Reekie, and lived in Grosse Pointe all her life. She attended Detroit Country Day School and Ogontz in Philadelphia. She worked for AAA Travel Service until 1953 and married William C. Boydell that same year. Mrs. Sprague was active in sports from her field hockey days at Detroit Country Day School to tennis, paddle tennis and golf competitions later in life. She was the ladies golf club champion at the Country Club of Detroit in 1978, 1983, 1984 and 1994. She was an avid bridge player as well, and was a member of the Grosse Pointe Garden Club, the Junior League of Detroit and the Womens District Golf Association, of which she was president from 1985 to 1986. Her greatest enjoyment was summer visits to the Pere Marquette Rod & Gun Club in Baldwin, where she brought her family together for annual reunions. In 1977, she married Henry Sprague, with whom she enjoyed sports and travel to Europe, Hawaii and Borrego Springs, Calif. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. , Aug. 15, at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lakeshore, Grosse Pointe Farms. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research at michaeljfox.org. |

Obituary: Phyllis Ann Sprague, age 57, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Traverse City passed away , 25, 2016. She was born 20, 1958 in Traverse City to Francis and Barbara (Smith) Sheahan Johns. Phyllis was a loving mother and grandmother. In her last years, she was a care taker for several of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed being outdoors, working in her garden and fixing things. She enjoyed beadwork and bowling. Phyllis was a Tribe Elder for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa Chippewa Indians. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her 4 children: Jeremy Ross Sheahan, Ryan Elliott Kahgegab, Emily Elizabeth Kahgegab, and Kaitlin Kahgegab; 8 grandchildren: Mazhaquet, Dabian, Dehmon, Leonard, Robbie, Zhaahwii, Jaycee, and Mayna Phyllis; 2 great grandchildren: Dayl and Darrion; siblings: Dorothy Christy, Steven Sheahan, Robert Sheahan, Gary Sheahan, Wanda Sheahan, Frank Wabanimke, Tony Johns, Linda Johns, and Tillie Johns; Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter Francisca Jo Sheahan, sister Charlotte Sheahan-Demings, and great niece Lynnova Rose Sheahan. Obituary: Steven Alan Steve Sprague, age 57, of Battle Creek died unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep of an apparent heart failure on May 16, 2015. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 6, 1958, the loving son of Hugh D. and Ida E. (Pillars) Sprague. Steve was employed by DLA Disposition Services at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal for more than 30 years. He spent most of those years in the field of Contracting. He was a 1976 graduate of Gull Lake High School, and received both his Bachelor and Masters Degrees at Western Michigan University, in the field of Political Science. Those who knew him will always remember him for his tremendous love of great music and lyrics, classic old movies, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions. Steve continued to play recreational basketball - even after having triple bypass surgery - because it brought him such joy. He also loved a good political argument and any and all dogs. Steves marriage to Tracy (Urban - now Sokolowski) in 1988 lasted 13 years and produced the love of his life, his daughter, Chloe Sprague, who survives. He is also survived by four brothers; William (Patricia), Michael, Gary and Thomas, and by one sister, Patricia (Joe) Ferguson, as well as countless nieces, nephews, friends, and his dog, Ace. At the request of the family, cremation has taken place. will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., , May 22, 2015 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle where a memorial service to celebrate Steves life will be held 1:00 p.m., , May 23, 2015. For the visitation on , in the spirit of Steves greatest loves - the family would love to see people in their favorite Detroit Lions or Tigers gear. Following his service, he moved back home to Muskegon where he worked for many years as a pattern maker.
