Obituary: Mae Belle Sleight, age 93 of Albion passed away 21, 2017 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, Michigan. Mae was born 24, 1923 to Dell and Nora (Thorn) Gordon. During WWII, she worked at Service Caster and became known as one of the famed Rosie the Riveters. On 21, 1951, Mae married James E. Sleight. As their family grew, Mae worked as noon hour supervisor at Harrington School and bus driver for Albion. She also was a leader with the Boy Scouts. Her neighbors loved her for her dedication on protecting the residence on her road. Her husband, James, preceded Mae in death after 58 years of marriage. Surviving are three sons, James (Ruth Lynn) Sleight Jr. of Oxford, NC, Philip Sleight of Albion and Richard (Jane) Sleight of LeRoy, IL; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Ashley), Crystal (Keith) Anderson, Erin (Jerry) Losee, Jerry, Jaime, Nick and Ryan; five great- grandchildren, Scotty, Evena Mae, Ellsworth, Audrey Mae and Rhett; several nieces and nephews. All five of her siblings, Emmett, Ernest, Leo, Thurza Harden and Esther Rosenberry, also preceded her in death. Mae was known for humorous quips such as Im still kicking but not so high, Im deaf in one ear and can hear out of the other and he nut didn fall too far from the tree. She found pleasure in sharing a good laugh. According to her wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place on 8, 2017 at 3:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd , 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224 with Pastor Melany Chalker officiating. Visitation will start one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to Allegiance Hospice , 2150 Kingsbrooke Drive, Jackson, MI 49202. Obituary: F. Norene Sleight East Lansing, MI Norene Sleight died on 27, 2014 at Whitehills , East Lansing (Ingham ), Michigan. She was born Frances Norene Rotter in Burt Lake (Tuscarora Township, Cheboygan ), on 17, 1923, the daughter of Frank Forrest Rotter (1883-1965) and of Clara (Hemmes, later used her adopted name of Dice) Rotter (1889-1980). graduating from Alanson High School (Emmet ), she attended Ferris Institute (now Ferris State University) in Big Rapids (Mecosta ). Norene worked for many years in offices of the State of Michigan in the Lansing area. She married first Harlon Sheldon Foote (1924, Ingham \ 1950, Perry, Shiawassee ) and had two sons: Paul Sheldon Foote (1946-), Professor of Accounting, California State University, Fullerton, and Phillip Harlon Foote (1947-), retired State of Michigan employee, Lansing. Paul Sheldon Foote and Badri (Hosseinian) Foote, Irvine (Orange ) California, had two children David Reza Foote and Sheila Parisa Rossi. David Foote, of San Francisco, California, operates Software companies. Sheila Rossi and her husband Stephen Edward Rossi, of South Pasadena (Los Angeles ) California have three children: Iyla Parisa Rossi, Leily Sahar Rossi, and Gavin Michael Rossi. Phillip Foote and Judith (Torgerson) Foote, of Lansing Michigan. Daughter, Philena Norton, of East Lansing has two children: Matthew Norton and Keira Norton. Norene married second Rolan Sleight (1893-1975, Saint Johns, Clinton ). A devoutly religious lady, Norene attended many churches throughout her life, including: Burt Lake Christian Church, Perry Baptist Church, South Baptist Church (Lansing), and West Lansing Church of Christ. She liked to say, The Lord is watching over me. Norene Sleight will be buried next to Harlon Sheldon Foote in Glendale , Mount Hope Road, Okemos (Ingham ). Dr. David M. Garver, Sr., will be officiating at the graveside service at 10 a.m. , 1, 2014. A light lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Contributions may be made to Walker Bible Baptist Church, 400 E. Obituary: Martha Sleeper, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on 10, 2015 in Sterling Heights. Mrs. Sleeper was born on 12, 1927 to Micheli and Lena Concetta (Aiosa) DeMaria. She worked for many years as a Binder for Helms Inc. a publisher of books. She met her husband Donald and they married 21, 1954. Together they raised their children, Donald and Darlene in Detroit and Roseville. She was a devout member of her church, St. Donald Catholic Church in Roseville. retiring she assisted her children in raising their children and later her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sleeper is survived by her son, Donald D. (Mary) Sleeper; daughter, Darlene Paszkowski; grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Sleeper, Jeffery (Cali) Paszkowski, and Nicole (Ken) Buffa-Sylvester; great-grandchildren, Sebrina Sleeper, Dominic Buffa, Emma Pazkowski and Donald Paszkowski; sisters, Mary DeMaria, Antoinette Crossley, Frances Line, Betty Demeter, Josephine Aubel, Dorothy Lombardo, Jennie Sund and brother, Michael DeMaria. Martha was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, Donald in 1988 and her sister Constance Toutant in 1999. Friends may visit , 15, 2015 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Kaul 27830 Gratiot Avenue, Roseville. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. evening. Visitation continues on , 16, 2015 at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, (Schroeder at Nine Mile road in Eastpointe) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Clinton Grove in Clinton Township, Michigan.
