Obituary: Alice Jean Stoner, 90, of Greenwood, died 3, 2017 in Little Rock, AR. She was born 24, 1927 in Forest City, Iowa to Marion S. and Evelyn Maude Rice Kemble. Alice grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and married John Stoner. She moved to Arkansas in 1971 and was an employee of Sparks Regional Medical for 20 years, where she made many life long friends. She worked in Pediatrics, and enjoyed a very rewarding career where she loved teaching and coordinating fun activities for young patients, to ensure they remain comfortable and engaged during their stay. Alice was also the Nursery Coordinator for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for 20 years. More recently, she has been a member of New Life Tabernacle in Huntington. She was a member of the Fort Smith Jr. Civic League, where she worked on many projects to help raise money for the Bost School. She also walked many miles for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Jean Barnes and husband Carol of Huntington, AR; one son, Dan Stoner and wife Marsha of Fort Smith, AR; a close friend like a daughter, Mickie Matthews of Fort Smith; one step son, Jack Stoner and wife Peggy of Youngstown, OH; one brother Tom Kemble of Florida and one step sister Donna Gibson of Florida; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a very special nephew Terry and wife Kathy Kemble and her crazy little dog Sweet Pea. She was preceded in death by one son, William M. Stoner; three brothers, Charles, Mern, and Bill Kemble; one sister, Adair McCartney; one step brother, Art Kranz. service will be , 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn all under the direction of Edwards . Pallbearers will be Family members. The family will greet friends at Edwards on evening from 5-7 PM Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. |
