Obituary: Robert C. Silk May 13, 1946- 26th, 2015 ville- Robert C Silk, 68 entered into eternal rest on 26th 2015 at The Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after complications from Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML). Bob was born in Springfield MA on May 13th 1946 the son of Robert R. Silk and Frances Silk (Smart). Bob was predeceased by his father Robert R., his daughter Kaitlin M Silk, and his father-in-law Leo P. DeBon. Bob grew up in West Springfield MA He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1964, and Central Connecticut State University in 1969. college Bob met the love of his life Linda DeBon in 1972, and they recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Bob and Linda were blessed with three beautiful children: Corey, Courtney, and their oldest daughter Kaitlin whom he now joins in heaven. Bob worked as a real-estate agent, in real-estate advertising, and most recently for Sweeney Associates as a marketing and sales director for 55 plus condominium projects in Western Mass. Bob was an avid sports enthusiast always cheering on his Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He has been a Red Sox season ticket holder for many years. Bob was also known among family and friends as a great animated story teller, baseball mentor, and Civil War Historian. Bob was a 3 sport athlete at West Springfield high school excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. He played on numerous championship teams. Bobs love of sports brought him to coach several of his sons award winning little league, Babe Ruth, and legion baseball teams on Cape Cod. A door in the basement is proof of the many hours spent fine-tuning the batting skills of many potential Barnstable and West Springfield baseball players. He is survived by his wife Linda Silk (DeBon), son Corey, and daughter Courtney. He also leaves his mother Frances, brother William and his wife Jeanne Silk of West Springfield, and two sisters Barbara Largay,and Kathleen Sweeney and her husband Michael all of West Springfield, his mother-in-law Mary DeBon and sister-in-law Patricia DeBon both of Hershey, PA, and brother-in-law Bruce DeBon and his wife Teri of Westwood, NJ. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews including Dina, Brendon, Ryan, Melissa, Sean, Kellie, Eric, Bryan, Matt, and Chris. He also leaves behind many dear friends who where very special to him. The family would also like to thank Kevin Smyth-Hammond from the Cape Cod Oncology Floor for all his ongoing support. A visitation will be held at Our Lady Victory Church in ville MA on May 1st from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on May 2nd 2015 at Our Lady Victory church in ville MA. Obituary: MILDRED T. SILK, 84 Mildred T. Silk passed away on 7, 2015, at her home in Dennis after a long battle with Parkinsons disease. Millie was the devoted wife of 60 years of Arthur T. Silk. She leaves her children Arthur Jr. (Patricia Burns) of Boston; John (Nancy) of Bainbridge Island, WA; Patricia (Michael Kloess) of Berkeley, CA; William (Barbara) of Stamford, CT; Ann of Dennis, and Michael (Eileen) of Holliston. Millie is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Lauren, Brendan, Caitlin, William Jr., Ryan, Caroline, Keegan, and Riley, her in-laws David McIntyre and Robert and Dorothea Silk, and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed. Born in the Mission Hill section of Roxbury, Millie was predeceased by her parents John W. and Mildred T. McElroy and her sister Martha F. McIntyre. She was a graduate of Mission High School and Emmanuel , where she served as President of the Class of 1951 alumnae for many years. Millie taught in the Boston, Bremerton, Washington, and Waltham public schools. She resided in Waltham before retiring to the Cape in 1992. She spent her childhood summers in Marshfield and enjoyed the Dennis beaches with her children and grandchildren. Millie will be remembered for her kindness, effervescent personality, and courageous spirit. She became an ardent citizen of Red Sox Nation while it was still a colony, and for many years she and Arthur attended spring training in Florida. Millie was also an avid gardener and tennis player. The family would like to extend its deep appreciation to the caregivers from Visiting Angels and the VNA of Cape Cod for all of their support during Millies final years. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 7 pm on , 19, at the Doane Beal and Ames , 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Catholic Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA, at 11 am on , 20. Obituary: John K. Kevin Silk of Cambridge died on 19 at Mass General Hospital surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He was 77. Born in Cambridge and raised in Belmont, Kevin was a longtime resident of Wellesley and Cambridge MA, proud that he overlooked Mt. Auburn Hospital, the place of his birth. Kevin attended Belmont public schools and graduated Belmont High School in 1956. His academic achievements earned him a GE scholarship to attend Harvard University where he majored in physics and played trombone in the marching band, graduating in 1960. He earned his Ph.d in Astro Physics from MIT graduating in 1968. Kevin enjoyed a career in private industry leading projects for AS&E in Cambridge and Bloch Engineering in Pittsburgh. He participated NASAs Skylab project in the early 1970s and traveled the world delivering technical support and helping solve complex problems. His signature ability was taking highly complex ideas and translating them so that they could be better understood. He was a first class writer and his calm, quiet manner along with keen intelligence helped instill confidence in his work that was recognized by both colleagues and clients. Outside of work, Kevin was a passionate cook whose day revolved around what he would make for dinner. He hosted many Head of the Charles and Christmas parties where he enjoyed planning the menu and doing the cooking. He was a lifelong supporter of the Boston Symphony, Handel and Hydn society and ART in Cambridge. He was an able carpenter and handyman, dutifully remodeling his home in Wellesley room by room for 15 years, even tackling some plumbing and electrical tasks – but never again wallpapering as he said a man should ecognize his limits. Kevin was lucky to have love and been loved by three great women. He was married to Laura Wright Silk of Sewickley PA for 32 years who predeceased him due to cancer in 1992. He found love again with Rosa Bonanno Shinagel of Belmont and Cambridge, MA, who too died of cancer in 1997. For the past 15 years, Kevin shared his life with Charlotte Troubh of Portland, ME and Cambridge, enjoying trips to Tanglewood and Maine, concerts and museum visits in Boston and many memorable meals both at home and in favorite restaurants. Kevin is survived by his dear friend Charlotte Troubh of Cambridge, MA, his daughter Christy Curran of Needham, MA and his son, Sean Silk of Los Angeles, CA. He enjoyed the company of his family and was especially proud of his five grandchildren, Jack and Margaret Curran and Anna, Nicholas and Gabriella Silk. A memorial party will be held for Kevin at a later date. |

Obituary: Watertown – Mr. Arthur T. Silk, of Watertown, formerly of Dennis and Waltham, died , 22, 2016, at his home. He was 87. Arthur was born in Boston, a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Mullen) Silk and was raised in West Roxbury. He graduated from Boston Latin School in 1947 and from Boston in 1951. Two years later he earned a masters degree from Harvard Business School. business school, he joined the United States Navy where he served as an officer aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CVA-9) during the Korean War. When his active service was over, Arthur remained a member of the United States Navy Reserve. He retired as a captain after a twenty-nine-year career. In 1954, Arthur married Mission Hill native Mildred T. McElroy in Mission Church. moved to Waltham, where they raised their family and were active members of St. Jude Parish. In 1993 they retired to their home on the Cape. The couple enjoyed sixty happy years together until Millies death on 7, 2015. Arthur worked as a logistics specialist for several area industries, specializing in product warehousing, traffic and transportation. He helped to revolutionize the way products were brought to market for companies as diverse as Stop & Shop, Converse (footwear), and several local electronics distributors. He also ran his own consulting firm, Distribution Assistance, and served as an expert witness in the field. Arthur was an active member of the Navy Supply Corps Association and the Harvard Business School Alumni Association. Arthur and Millie enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Barbados, Florida, Hawaii and the West Coast. He helped her to maintain a beautiful garden and landscape at their home and always enjoyed visits with his grandchildren. Arthur leaves his children, Arthur T. Silk, Jr. and his partner, Patricia Burns, of Boston, John M. Silk and his wife, Nancy, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Patricia Silk and her husband, Michael Kloess, of Berkley, California, William J. Silk and his wife, Barbara, of Stamford, Connecticut, Ann Silk of East Dennis and Michael T. Silk and his wife, Eileen, of Holliston; his grandchildren, Lauren and Brendan Silk, Caitlin Kloess, William, Ryan, Caroline, Keegan and Riley Silk; his brother, Robert A. Silk and his wife, Dorothea of Norwood and many nieces and nephews.
