Obituary: Marc (Bub) A. Swain Jr., 20, of Canaan and formerly of Norridgewock, passed away unexpectedly on 12, 2015, in Kibby Township, Maine. He was born 23, 1994 in Waterville, Maine, the son of Marc A. Swain Sr. and Jennifer A. (Dionne) Swain. Marc attended Skowhegan Area High School in Skowhegan, Maine. He was employed by Lucas Tree . He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and trapping. Kibby was his favorite fishing, trapping and camping area. He had been going there with family and friends since he was a toddler. Marc also enjoyed drawing, and old country music. He was a fiercely protective older brother to his sister. Besides his parents, Marc and Jennifer Swain Sr. of Norridgewock; he leaves his sister, Emilee Swain of Norridgewock; his girlfriend, Whitney Pelletier of Canaan; his paternal grandparents, Malcolm and Irma Swain of Norridgewock; his maternal grandparents, James and Joyce Dionne of Skowhegan, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Obituary: Gerald Swain, 58 of Canaan, passed suddenly on May 31st,, 2010. Jerry was born in Skowhegan to the late Eugene Swain and Helena Withee Trafton on 7th, 1951. Jerry graduated from the Skowhegan Area High School in 1971 and later enlisted in the Navy. Born and raised on a dairy farm, Jerry had farming in his veins. He owned and operated a trucking company for a large part of his life, but his heart and most of his time was spent farming. His passion grew into a large crop farm, covering thousands of acres of corn and grass. Through working as a truck driver for Hartin & Ames Inc., Jerry met his wife Thelma Ames. later married in the summer of 1977. He and his wife were blessed with two daughters, Melissa Swain of Brighton, MA, and Emilee Swain Robertson of Canaan, ME. Blessed with two daughters might be a stretch, but his two Grandsons were certainly the light of his life. Jerry loved children, and especially enjoyed spending time with his little grandson Ashton on the tractor. All of the children in the area were special to Jerry. He was always quick to make time for a kid. Jerry was known all over the community. He could often be found drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes with friends. He was the guy that would give the shirt off his back, even when he had nothing to give. He had a gruff exterior, with a teddy bear heart. He enjoyed tractor pulling, snowmobiling, maple sugaring, fishing, fixing equipment, and prided himself as the messiah of Detroit engines. Always quick to remind everyone that he had forgotten more than any of us would ever know about diesel engines. Of all his hobbies, tractor pulling was closest to his heart. Jerry especially enjoyed being at the Skowhegan and Clinton Fairs each fall with his friends from across New England and Eastern Canada. Everyone knew when Jerry pulled because a cloud of black smoke lingered after his red tractor yanked the sled out of the arena. Cheaters are beaters, he would laugh, helping any and all to turn their pumps up and cheat as bad as him. He pulled tractors for nearly thirty years, with his favorite being an International 1466. It was a family event, his brother, daughter, son-in-law, nephew and hopefully grandsons someday all following in his footsteps. Other than his wife Thelma and two daughters, Jerry leaves behind two grandsons Ashton and Cohen Robertson, son-in-law Ethan Robertson, his favorite nephew Daryl Swain Jr., uncle Malcolm Swain, aunt Irma Swain, brothers: David Swain, Brian Swain, Daryl Swain Sr., Neil Swain, Kenny Williams, Larry Williams, Michael Trafton, James Trafton, John Trafton Jr., sisters: Jean York, Dolly Bernier, Rosalie Rizza, and Rebecca Trafton. Jerry is predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Flavie Swain, and brother Roy Williams. Viewing Hours will be held from 6 to 8 pm on the 4th of at Smart & Edwards , 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine. Starting at 2 pm on 5th, there will be a tractor procession beginning at the Canaan One Stop and arriving at the Fairview . Graveside services will be held at 2:30 on at the Fairview in Canaan. Following the services there will be a tractor procession from the cemetery to Jerrys garage on the Moores Mills Rd. in Canaan. |

Obituary: Beth Ann Swain (nee Murphy), age 57 of Madison, Maine entered into the kingdom of Heaven on 30, 2015 surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Beth was born 2, 1958 to parents Edward and Lucille Murphy. She was raised in Massapequa, New York with her brother and four sisters. Their family enjoyed trips to the beach, hiking upstate New York, going to museums and outings, having family gatherings and sharing summer vacations in Maine. A graduate of Massapequa High School in 1976, she then moved to Maine in 1978 with her sister Kala and Aunt Marie to open The Fabric Garden in Madison, Maine. It was in Maine that she met the love of her life, Shaun M. Swain, husband of 35 years. married in , 1980 and proudly welcomed their son Jonathan S. Swain to the world the following . began their life together in Industry, Maine, later laying down roots in Madison, Maine. Beth loved nothing more than being a wife and mother and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with Shaun at their cabin in Rangeley, Maine. One of the most joyous moments of Beths life was when her son Jonathan married Larissa (Sigurdsen) Swain. Beth was a devout Christian and faithful member of Christ Community Fellowship in Madison, Maine, where she worked as church secretary until late last year. She lived her life as the Lord intended: with a joyous, giving heart and unending willingness to help others. She genuinely cared about those around her, and those in need. Those who knew Beth basked in the light of her graciousness, generosity and gentle, loving spirit. She loved baking and cooking, always making treats for those who could use a smile. Through her church, Beth was active in many prayer groups and Bible studies. She was also active in several cancer support groups, where she shared her love of Christ and His message of hope. Beth is survived by her beloved husband Shaun Swain, their cherished son Jonathan Swain and wife, Larissa, mother Lucille Murphy, siblings Michaela Murphy, Maura Murphy, Celia Murphy, Edward Christopher Murphy and his wife Norma, and Mary Murphy. She leaves behind many adored nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, countless friends, and sisters and brothers in Christ. She is predeceased by father Edward J. Murphy, aunts Marie Priebe and Helene Messina, uncle Martin Priebe and cousin Thaddeus Messina, and grandparents Martin and Josephine Priebe, Margaret (Murphy) Hogan, and Edward J Murphy, Sr. While the loss of Beth here on earth is profound, her family and friends are grateful that her pain has ended and she now dwells in the Kingdom of Heaven, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Obituary: Scarborough - Natalie P. Swaim, 79, of Westbrook, Maine, formerly of Cumberland , Maine, passed away on 13, 2011. She was born in Portland, Maine on 10,1931, the daughter of Olan and Elizabeth (Bessie) Swaim. Natalie graduated class valedictorian in 1949 from Greely Institute in Cumberland , Maine. attending Grays Business in Portland, Maine, she worked for many years in the claims dept. at Motors Insurance , an affiliate of the General Motors Corporation. Upon retiring, she volunteered in the offices of the Goodwill Industries. Her avocation was cookery, beginning in youth as a member of the 4-H group in Cumberland where she was a delegate to its National Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Her delicious puddings and pies were popular with gatherings of friends and at many holidays with her extended family. Natalies cousin, H. Edwin Schade, sponsored her membership in Woodbine Rebekkah Lodge, the ladies affiliate of the Odd Fellows organization where she served in various offices. She loved attending the Canco Road First Baptist Church of which she was a long time member. An avid reader, she enjoyed celebrating her birthday with an old friend, Arlene and also with a large group of friends, The Birthday Girls. Always seeking ways to be helpful and encouraging, she often did errands or provided rides for neighbors and friends. Her favorite decorating color was yellow, clearly indicative of the cheery personality all who knew her enjoyed.
