Obituary: Marjorie Marj Stewart, 86 Westbrook - Marjorie Marj Stewart, 86, of Yarmouth, died 16, 2011 at Springbrook after a long period of declining health. She was born in Needham, MA on May 20, 1925, a daughter of Ruth (Barnard) and Harold M. Fisher. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and from Pierce Secretarial School in Boston, MA. She then went on to work at a wool fiber company, an encyclopedia publisher, and Jackson Chairs Inc.- all in the Boston area. On 16, 1956 she married Walter Ross Stewart, moved to Yarmouth, Me and together they had two children. settling in Yarmouth she continued share her passion for dogs. Before her marriage she raised and shown Irish Setters. It wasn long before she started the first 4-H Dog Club in the state of Maine in the early 1960s. She worked with the Saccarapa Dog Obedience Club in Westbrook and helped with training classes. Having taken in an abused Cavalier King Charles spaniel, she became involved in the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club being formed in this country, and helped write their breed standard. Marj was a member of the Board of Directors of the Animal Refuge League and eventually became its executive director during a major renovation of their facility on Stroudwater Street, in Westbrook. Marj also had an interest in horses since childhood. With her kids she learned to ride, owned her own horse and participated in trail riding with family and friends in the Yarmouth area. She enjoyed British history and made several trips to England. Marj is survived by her son David R. Stewart and his wife Belinda (Pulk) and their two children, Chelsea Stewart and Ian Stewart; her daughter Ruth Ann Stewart and her children Emma Stewart and Nicole Stewart and her nephew Harold D. Obituary: Joseph Maynard Stewart, 85, of Wellington passed away on 2, 2012 at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, Maine following a long illness. He was born 31, 1926 in Kingsbury, Maine, the son of Maynard and Rosie (Cowette) Stewart, the third of fifteen children. Joseph served in WWII in the European Theatre and received the Purple Heart as well as several other meritorious medals. During his life, Joseph was a woodsman who had a passion for hunting, fishing and was an avid Red Sox fan. His grandchildren consider him to be the greatest poacher never to be caught. He also loved going on fishing/ camping trips with his wife, he especially enjoyed the trips to Little Dimmick their favorite spot where they spent most of their time, and joining the moose hunt. In later years, he found solace in caring for his horses. He is survived by the love of his life and soul mate his wife Lois Stewart of Wellington, his children; Dorothy (Stewart) Pope of Hiram, GA, Linda (Stewart) and her husband Robert Doiron of Wellington, Clayton and his wife Donna of Greenville, Penny Stewart of Athens, step-children; Douglas Flanders, Jeffrey Flanders, Earle Flanders, and Heidi Dawson all of Athens, brothers and sisters; Frances Libby of Ripley, Amos Arthur and Stewart of Harmony, Mildred and Warren Thompson of Wellington, Leo Stewart and Mae Householder of Wellington, Phyllis and Floyd Wood of Wellington, Gloria of Brownville, Glenwood and Charlotte Stewart of Wellington, brother and sister in-laws; Keith and Nancy Hall of Oakland, Linwood and Jane Hall of Sydney, James and Evelyn Hall of Oakland, Clayton Hall of Oakland, and Richard Wakefield of Oakland, twelve grandchildren; Danny Pope, Clifton Pope, Barbara Champagne, Sharon Mumley, Ashley Stewart, Alisha Stewart, Amanda Munn, Brandon Munn, Melissa Moore, Jennifer Stewart, many great-grandchildren and many loved members of the Bryant Family, and many nieces and nephews, special friends; Lloyd and Christine Brazier, Clifford Fornier of Wellington, and Aaron and Debbie Neal and family. He was predeceased by his parents Maynard and Rosie Stewart, brothers and sisters; Henry Buster Stewart, Julia Norton, Ralph Stewart, Thelma Hansen, Lillian Stewart, Dorothy Packard, Floyd Stewart, brother in-law Duane Coburn, daughter Marita Henderson, stepsons; Manley Marshall, Shaun-Eric Marshall, Kenny Flanders, grandchildren; Vickie and Connie Pope. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital and to Reach Hospice for the wonderful care and support during their time of need. Viewing hours will be held on 5, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm at Smart & Edwards , 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine, a funeral service will be held on 6, 2012 at 11 am at the Hartland Full Gospel Church, Elm Street, Hartland, Maine, burial will be held in the spring with military honors.
