Obituary: OLEN ANDREW (O.A.) STEWART, JR. COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LOUISIANA Olen Andrew (O.A.) Stewart, Jr. died on 15, 2016 after a long illness. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 18, 2016 at Cox in Bastrop, Louisiana. A visitation for family and friends will held at Cox on , 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. O.A. loved the Lord and he loved music. He will be remembered by his family and friends through music and with a message of faith delivered by the Rev. Allan Eppinette. Serving as O.A.s pallbearers are Trace Robert Hester, Trent Alderson Hester, Andrew Seay Crowe, Cameron Brewer Crowe, Paul Hughes, Drew Randall Heckford, Nicholas Jon Banta, and Nathanael Don Banta. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Stewart, Clyde Robert White, Jonathon Cole White, James Caleb Stewart, Joshua Olen Stewart, DeRonna Ann Matthews, Della Heckford, and Sessali Ann Banta. O.A. was born 14, 1939 to Olen Andrew and Rhodella McNeece Stewart in Bastrop at the family home on Blanche Avenue and he lived his entire life in Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Jo Stewart Hayter, his brother Ronnie Stewart and his infant son Andrew Thomas Stewart. He is survived by his wife Jacque Spensley Stewart, his daughter and son-in-law Tammy Lorraine Stewart and Ricky Dale Hester of Monroe, Louisiana, his son and daughter-in-law Carl Seay and Holly Ruth Crowe of Bentonville, Arkansas, his son Damian Ashmore Stewart of San Antonio, Texas, his sister Hilda Stewart White of Bastrop, his sister Vanessa Ann Stewart of New Iberia, Louisiana, and sister-in-law Delois Ann Stewart Austin and her husband Carroll Austin of Fordyce, Arkansas. O.A. is also survived by his grandchildren Trace Robert Hester, Trent Alderson Hester, Andrew Seay Crowe, Cameron Brewer Crowe, Kendra Nicole Williams and Landon Cyril Stewart. Great grandchildren include Carsyn Lee Williams, James Bryce Hester, Tanner Blake Hester and Zelda Cadence Hester. Other survivors include numerous nephews, nieces and many cousins. In 1957, O.A. joined the U.S. Postal Service in Bastrop and for more than 30 years he delivered mail all over the city. He seemed to know everyone in town and he often whistled while driving his mail truck or walking his route. People knew him as the whistling postman. In junior high school O.A. began playing music and developed a lifelong love of making music for others to enjoy. He continued to play until only a couple of years ago when he became too ill to continue. He played string and keyboard instruments but he enjoyed his saxophone more than anything. For nearly 50 years he played numerous venues mostly with his great music buddies Wayne Freeman, Woodie Hendrix, Boyce Free and Bill Tharpe. In addition to O.A.s time with the Postal Service and his work in music, he was a business owner, the car mechanic for his extended family, a car salesman and an all around jack of all trades. O.A. could fix just about anything and he was always willing to help anyone. He led a busy life and made many friends along the way. He will be missed by many.
