Obituary: SPRINGER, Patricia Rose Pat, age 81 of New Orleans, LA passed away , 21, 2017 at Ochsner Medical , Jefferson, LA. Pat was born May 10, 1936 in Mount Pleasant, PA to the late Charles Joseph and Catherine Beatrice (Boning) Skergan. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her former spouse, Arthur Springer and siblings, Sister M. Francina Skergan, Sisters of Charity; Richard (Cecilia) Skergan, USMC and Edward (Grace) Skergan, USMC. Pat is survived by her sister, Margaret Peggy (Gerald) LaRue of Germantown, numerous nieces and nephews, and her close friends and caregivers. Pat attended primary school in Pennsylvania and West Virginia before graduating in 1954 from St. Francis High School in Morgantown. She continued her studies at Ursuline Mother House in Louisville, KY before working on her PhD at Baptist Education Seminary in New Orleans, LA. Pat taught second grade for 10 years and worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses over a period of 15 years. She volunteered her assistance with mentally and physically challenged children as well as counselling teenagers. Pat enjoyed football. Her favorite teams were the Pittsburg Steelers, the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. Family will receive guests from 10:00 - 11:00 AM , 29, 2017 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore , Miamisburg, Mass of Christian Burial will begin 11:30 AM also on at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Miamisburg and celebrated by Father Jim Romanello. Obituary: Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:21 John Morgan Spring was a godly man by any measure, a role model in his church, community, and family who, by his example, displayed honor, integrity, humility, good humor, and courage. John, age 52, left his loving family on 12, 2014, at University Hospital in New Orleans, having fought the good fight after a boating accident on Labor Day. His memory will endure in the hearts of all who loved and respected him, which are many. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Michelle Missie Cowart Spring, his daughter Morgan Spring, his son Wyatt Spring; his mother Sharon Causey Spring Justice; his sister Angee Spring Wray and husband John; his brother Charles Neal Justice and Lauren; and his fraternal grandmother Christine Hoggatt Spring. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Morgan and Inez Whittington, his maternal grandparents Barnett Causey and Nathalie Dupuy, his fraternal grandfather John W. Spring, his father Johnny Spring, his infant sister Kelli Spring, his cousin Chance West, and his sister-in-law Monica Cowart. Members of his extended family include uncle Sonny Causey and wife Judi, aunt Darnell Causey West and husband Shot, aunt Diane Causey Baker, uncle Douglas Spring, uncle Jim Spring and wife Kathy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Born on 25, 1961, in Baton Rouge, he was raised well by his mother following the death of his father. graduation from Forest Hill High School in Jackson, Miss., he relocated to Denham Springs to complete welding apprenticeship school and, as teenagers, to begin an eight year courtship of his future wife. He soon launched his own business, Rebel Welding, that later evolved into High Standard Welding which he owned and operated until his death. His strong work ethic, character, and pursuit of excellence are reflected in the name of the company he founded. John was a tireless craftsman known for perfection, integrity, and dependability. His reputation for excellence built a highly successful business that was well run and based upon Christian principles. He was a longtime member of Amite Baptist Church where the family was very active in School and he served as chairman of the Property Committee. During his time with us, he touched many lives and made them better, always seeking to lead others to faith. His final wish for all those he leaves behind is that they come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior so he may one day see them again. He was a wonderful husband and proud father who loved and honored his family with unfailing devotion. A loyal friend, John was admired and respected for his good heart and generous spirit by a large circle of friends. Always quick to deflect the spotlight, he possessed a remarkable gift for drawing people out in conversation which made them feel significant and valued. His easy laugh and warm sense of humor were richly enjoyed by everyone. He remains a hero to many even in death, as he became an organ donor. John was an avid fisherman who also loved to deer hunt, especially with his son, Wyatt, and his lifelong friend and uncle, Douglas Spring, with whom he shared a hunting camp most winters. both delighted in teaching Wyatt to be an outdoor sportsman as well. He also doted on his daughter, Morgan, who had a special place in his heart and, even though she was always his little girl, he was very supportive of her future goals. Visitation on , 15 will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Amite Baptist Church with funeral services immediately following. Interment will be at Amite Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers are John Wray, Charles Neal Justice, Bill Shelby, James Hornsby, Scott Sutton, Paul Reynolds, Danny Jones, and Gerard Barrilleaux. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Cowart, Wyatt Spring, Breaudi Wray, Ander Justice, Shot West, Douglas Spring, and Jim Spring. The family wishes to acknowledge the generous kindness of Judge and Mrs. Bob Morrison, Danny Jones, Ty Delatte, Days Smokehouse, and all those who called, visited, cried, and prayed during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Live Oak High School Fishing Team whose goal is to foster a love of the outdoors that John treasured so much. |
