Obituary: BOSSIER CITY, LA Graveside Services celebrating the life of Agnes Mildred Sinor, 95 will be held , 19, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, LA. The family will receive friends before the service on from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Millie was born 5, 1920 in Etowah, Tennessee and passed away on 14, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Sinor Sr.; her daughter, Sandy Sinor Starr and her son Steve Sinor. She is survived by her son, Ben Sinor, Jr. and wife Beckie; her daughter, Judith Sinor and husband Jerry Kienle; grandchildren, Kim Lyon, Karen, DiCarlo, Robin McCarthy, Julie Sinor Johnson, Erik Crosskno and Nick Starr and 12 great grandchildren. At rest on the Mountain Millie began her life as a country girl with a gypsy soul. growing up in the Smokey Mountains she married Big Ben and spent the next thirty years traveling as a military wife. Two tours in Alaska only increased her love of the mountains. She also lived in CA, TX, NE, GA, NM and LA where she also spent 30 years. Millies first granddaughter, Kim Cooke Lyon, coined the name GrandMillie which is how she was known to the family forever. Millie spent many years as a fashion buyer, and was an expert seamstress, able to make beautiful dresses without a pattern for her daughters and granddaughters. She loved teaching all the girls how to shop, especially for shoes which were her passion. The little girls loved to raid GrandMillies closet to try on shoes and see what was new. GrandMillie was always beautiful with a fresh hairstyle, cute outfit and matching shoes. Millie spent her share of time as a Little League mother, attending every game of her boys, Ben and Steve. She was also ahead of her time by creating her own disposable water bottles (empty syrup bottles) for hot little boys running in from the heat and the grandkids who might be visiting. Millies Beagles and Cocker Spaniel were part of the family. With two litters of puppies at the same time, she warmed her own special concoction of puppy food several times a day. In later years as a widow her cat, Oscar, was her beloved companion. Also in later years Millie lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she loved being near her daughter Sandy and her family. Granddaughter Robin and her beautiful little girls were Millies absolute joy. Unfortunately, her other grands and great grands were scattered across the country and she had to rely on visits, which were much too few and far between. Millie the sweetaholic passed that trait on to her children. Granddaughter Karen remembers being served chocolate cake for breakfast. Julie remembers eating ice cream in bed while also getting her fingernails painted. Kim remembers the errands and the special chocolate sheet cake made especially for her with one half plain and one half with pecans. When grandsons finally came along they enjoyed their GrandMillies stash of candy. Millie spent the past five years living at Brookdale Assisted Living. Her family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care and love she received from Betsy Williams , the caregivers, as well as Jennifer and Pam at the beauty shop. You all made her last years as happy and comfortable as possible. We are also grateful for the wonderful angels at Regional Hospice for the loving attention to our mother during her last days. We could not have made it without you. We know our mother GrandMillie is now at rest in the heavenly mountains she loved, with her family that has gone before her. |
