Obituary: Eugene M. Stanger Indianola Eugene M. Stanger, 91, passed away May 12, 2015. A private graveside service will be held on , May 15, 2015 at Resthaven in West Des Moines. Eugene was a disabled veteran of WWII where he earned several medals. He was awarded the Purple Heart while serving on the Battleship-U.S.S. California in the Pacific, when a suicide plane kamikaze hit his ship and injured Eugene. his convalescence, Eugene came to Iowa where he married Maude. He worked at Penn Dixie Cement in West Des Moines, where he retired from. Eugene is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maude; three children, Chester R. Stanger, Linda F. Schnackle and Rhonda Stanger; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. |

Obituary: Delores E. "Shorty" Stanger, 88, of Wilton, IA, passed away , 4, 2016 at Genesis Medical - East Campus. services are at 11:00 a.m. , 7, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park . Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Delores was born on 8, 1927, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth Ellen (Sampica) Schlimmer. She married Lester W. Stanger on 6, 1945 in Davenport. Delores enjoyed bowling, camping and watching the Cubs and was a lifetime member and very active in her church. She was also a very good baker and famous for her apple squares along with being very family oriented and a caretaker for many. Survivors include her daughters, Mary Strassburger and Linda (John) Holladay; eleven grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren; and siblings, Irving Schlimmer and Betty Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two granddaughters, Amie and Kelly; two siblings, Nola Perry and Kenneth Schlimmer and great granddaughter, Brooklyn. |
